I would love a seed or two of that blue spice basil! Frost comes and gets us all, at least some make it through. Crisp cool days in another mini season in the garden
Cats are so entertaining. I love that tail whipping around.
Morning! End of the season is bittersweet! I bet you won't have to replant the Malabar spinach, I mentioned that Malabar spinach after a frost becomes a slimy mess, yours doesn't look that bad. I see a lot of black seeds, they will probably volunteer in that bed, and you can prick them out and replant them easily. I'm pretty sure you won't need to plant seeds for starts. This year I actually started eating my Malabar spinach, and with salt and pepper and some garlic it was pretty good. It is a beautiful plant, and even though the tiny flowers don't seem to open like other flowers in bloom, the bees love it!

Those asters.. stunning
At 70 I am finding the changing of the seasons bittersweet now.
Love fried green tomatoes
Praise Yahuah you still have bees! HalleluYah!!!
So awesome you are still getting a harvest even after a frost. I always worry about bringing in bugs when outdoor plants are moved indoors but it depends upon the plant. Going to try to grow some sweet Annie next year.
Got up this morning and my 2 hibiscus looks just like yours
Save seeds and fry the green tomatoes.
Your Malabar spinach is a perennial, Kaye. It’ll be back on its own without you having to reseed it. I think I’ll buy some seeds and grow it on my arch next year. Yours was so beautiful. How does it taste? Is it good in stir fry? How about in a quiche? Any thoughts on selling your seeds?
Your flowers are beautiful, I'm in northwest Florida and my zinnias held up to the 30s we had for a few days. I'm hopeful for asters and marigolds now, I have seeds but always seem to end up just buying a few from "big box" which never does anything for me. I'm reading a book on permaculture trying to learn the principles and practices and get away from the old plowed rows I grew up learning. One of my daughters got me a 6'×6' (I think it is) greenhouse so I'm excited in my new abilities. You keep up the good work you do here on these videos, you're definitely an inspiration. Do you sell any seeds? I'm interested in the sweet Annie. I'd also like to find a certain berry that your bamboo friend grows, I can't remember the name of it at the moment, but he said in a video, "the birds helps spread the seeds"… or something to that effect. Anyway, you have a wonderful day today and every day. Edit: wine berries is the berry name.
They are locking everything down.. Lockdown . Reset. It will not be the same when it comes back
I'm 71 and the changing seasons reminds me that I'm fast approaching the time when I can't garden and keep chickens. I love fall because I'm always so sick of the heat and humidity here in lower Alabama.
Kaye I love your hat!!
I love your cats😺
Thankfully we are holding on to 40s and 50s at night. I seeded lots of spinach , radishes, carrots and lettuce in the hot house. It does well in there every year. Cabbages and beets in raised beds looking great. The peppers that turn soft I use to season my rice and beans on taco night!! Happy fall
Kaye, Angie in Charleston here again. I dry my Anise Hyssop leaves and mix it with dried leaves from our fig trees, citrus tree leaves, then add mint leaves, lemon balm leaves and lemongrass leaves. I keep it in half gallon jars and use them for our "sweet tea" all year long. I wish YouTube would let comments have photos attached because the jars full of the dried tea are so beautiful.
We also had a freeze and the spring and summer things are mush. I did see my artichoke, garlic, and carrots are fine as is the grape vine with the new leaves (tough old thing that it is). Survived the grasshopper onslaught. The hoppers are hibernating or are gone. Thank goodness! You will have a wonderful Autumn there in TN and are getting ready for your cold months very well. Keep up your fine homesteading work!
