  1. I just came in from a beautiful day here in Maine you couldn't ask for anything better and I put all my gardens to bed and hayed them. Everything's been rooter tilled, sad but needs to be done.

  2. I have preppers fatigue atm so have slowed right down when l should be speeding up. It's hard working full time, some weeks working a 9 day week but I'm dehydrating as much as possible

  3. I enjoy seeing your collection of beautiful dishes. So often they are not appreciated by today's homemakes. I love looking at my grandmother's dishes & baking ware. They bring back good memories & tasty food that they made.

  4. Hey Toni, I ran out of half gallon jars so now it’s time for me to finally start using my vacuum sealer. I’m not sure when or if enough is enough. I use my pantry daily and now I just mostly replace what I use.
I will purchase sale items if it’s something I know we will use or I can process. Thanks for the video and it’s always good to see you!

  5. There is always something to do, and I believe if it is something you use more of, than you should put up extra of that. Flour is one of those items for me as well 🍞…and coffee ☕

  6. Thank you for your video.

I use 12 cups of flour for five loaves because that's what will fit in the oven.

A 10 kg (22 lb) bag of flour fills five one gallon Mylar Bags with about 13 and 1/2 cups. "About".
    If I'm remembering right, …
This was my first time using Mylar and I was looking for the five year plan at the time, …

When I began stashing flour I packed it into a one gallon glass jar with a round potato masher right to the brim, threw in 300 cc Oxygen absorbers and crossed my fingers for the five year plan. I must have about twenty of them. I love those one gallon glass jars.
By the looks of things, I may find out how the storage plan worked before the five years is up.

THEN! The rising price, the global drought, the eternal war, and just humanities inability to live together in peace and prosperity in a world of abundance had me formulate a new ten year plan, Then I started dumping the 10 kg flour into a five gallon Mylar in a five gallon bucket.
The bags I packed in the 45 gallon steel barrel went into the five gallon Mylar paper bag and all. I just put a slit in the paper flour bag and slide in the HUGE oxygen absorber. 2500 cc for five gallons if I remember right. The 10 kg bag does not fit the five gallon bucket or I'd just pack them that way.

And still I don't have enough flour.
The 1500 lbs of whole wheat doesn't really count eh? "Chicken feed", AKA "Hoe Fuel", or how about "Slave Gruel".
    I know, my bad.

    BUT!
I'm old, fat, and lazy, and I can assure you that's not as pretty as it sounds, … so if there's a young couple looking to feed their starving children after a serious SHTF long term event, .. I'll let them know I need a house woman and a yard man.
    Children eat for free eh?
Teach the children the respect, dignity, and diplomacy they'll need to work together for the greater good, the highest potential, the Holy and divine Win/Win.
And to prove how foolish the childish win/lose mentality is, I'll just point to their slave parents. Losers eh?

Have a great one and good luck.

  7. Thank you Toni!! I saw your other video on this and over the weekend I went ahead and did it. I appreciate you!!

  8. I’m pretty much done with prepping. At this point, it’s all about using up and replacing. There’s just two of us and our eating habits are changing. We’re eating less meat and less volume. (Yay!) I did find 8oz. cheese slices for 1$ at a store where my son lives. It’s like a discount store but only on select items. I bought 10 or 12 packages that i will take home with me when i’m done visiting. I also gave several packages to another son because who doesn’t love cheese? Butter at Aldi here is 3.87 pp. I do buy two pounds just about every time i shop and freeze it. I live in a tiny house, 600 sq. ft., and we’re full up!

  9. Costco currently has their Kirkland brand vacuum saver bags on sale for 20 dollars a box, limit 3. It's a good deal and they work great ☺️

  10. Have you ever used a Gamma Lid for 5 gal buckets? I guess they keep air tight 🤷

  11. Sounds like your pantry is a working pantry like mine is. I try to replace after I use up some, or as you say I find it on sale, so I have when needed. Hubby just up my flour I thought I was out, but after he got two big ten pound bags. He found one in freezer. That's ok it'll get used. He likes biscuits, bread, pizzas, cakes, cinnamon rolls ECT. He bought me extra seasonings as they were getting low too.

  12. Watched a previous video of your vacuum sealer, I have a cheaper version food saver that is wearing out.
Ordered one like yours, great price too
Delivered today, did a trial run, works great
We process a lot of our own meat
    Will come in handy
    Thank you

  13. I’ve been adding odd things to store. Pickled baby corn, pickled dilly beans, asparagus- all for bloody Mary’s. Jams, salsas, things like that. We are stuffed in the lower pantry.

  14. Id love to learn making homemade pie crusts. I make pies but with the ready made crusts. Have never made a pie crust.

  15. Just canned 18 pints taco soup today. doing chili next week. Im going to continue storing food especially when I can get a good deal. makes perfect sense to me

  16. ☝️Please be cautious with flour and sugars! Persons with bloodtype A, get joint inflammation that leads to ARTHRITIS ❗❗❗ So, don't eat You sick, because it is not fun… Having to go to replace a knee or whatever joint is bothering You, costs a lot of money! And there is a book as well as info on the net "grain brain"… Arm Your self with knowledge☝️ Blessings to all Souls 🙏🌟✨🕊️

  17. Hi Toni – it’s hard to say when enough is enough. Like you I use my stores and then replace them. I easily go through a 50lb bag of flour when i am making pasta, bread on a regular basis and also when I do a lot of baking pies, cookies, loaves, muffins. Last month I used 50 lbs when making banana loaf for the food bank. There have been years when I’ve gone thru 150 lbs of flour easily. I managed to find some cornmeal at a good price and picked up 12 kg today. We only store foods that we eat on a regular basis.

  18. Vacuum sealing helps to protect it from bugs and from going rancid. I need to get one, though. I don't have one. It's on my holiday list!

  19. The Church of Latter Day Saints sells white flour in cans which they say will last up to ten years if kept in a cool and dry area.

  20. My daughter is going to be staying in our guest room in December, between apartments. I have to find a place for my extra pantry. This is going to be a challenge.
I need to can 20 lbs of pork butt tomorrow and vacuum seal my rice.

  21. I used to do mine like this but found an easier way. I put all of my preps in 1/2 gallon bags, throw in an O2 absorber, and, if it's something like flour, I press as much air out as possible then seal it.

I have a wooden box on my counter with 1/2 gallon jars of beans, rice, flour, salt, sugar, and pasta. Since all of my preps are in half gallon jars, refills are a breeze!

  22. Love this I just bought Costco flour 25 pounds to re package but doesn’t need to be super long term I’ll use it regularly for the next year.

  23. Yes so hard to know when we have enough. So, I too will keep praying and preparing for my family the best I can.
If the God comes quickly then someone else can use it for sure.

  24. I used to argue with my brother when he’d say I should buy 20# of rice and 20# of beans for Y2K. Now my pantry is full. I bought 25 pounds of rice and 25# of beans, 3 cases of corn and 3 cases of green beans, 10# of oatmeal, 2# of raisins today at Costco. That could feed us for a couple of weeks or a month, I’m sure.

  25. I got a lot of that to do. I'm getting there. I've got to get my bread starters going again. Rewatched your daughters bread recipe. Looked good now it's soup time. God bless 🙏❤️

  26. Oh boy I didn’t know that flour gets hard in a canning jar. I bet I have at least 50lbs canned. 🤦‍♀️
