The world watched uneasily on Feb. 24 when Russian troops, under the orders of President Vladimir Putin, invaded Ukraine.
“The prospect of nuclear conflict, once unthinkable, is now back within the realm of possibility,” U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said March 14.

Researchers and government officials stress that a nuclear attack is very unlikely.
“We are assessing President Putin’s directive and, at this time, we see no reason to change our own alert levels,” White House press secretary Jen Psaki said Feb. 28.
“As long as these weapons are around, the possibility will always be there that they will actually be used,” said Alejandra Munoz, a project officer at the Dutch peace organization PAX.
Researchers, academics and advocacy groups for risk reduction and nuclear disarmament have written reports detailing what a hypothetical attack could look like and the long-term impact it could have on the planet and society.

In those days there will be rumors of war, all of which are birth pains. We are entering into the last days and its critical to repent and Receive the lord Jesus.

As a veteran of the first Cold War, I can say with absolute certainty that a full-scale nuclear war (ultimately, the only form of nuclear war), would result in the End of All Things. Period. There would be no escape. Even those "lucky" enough to afford a so-called nuclear "bunker" would run out of supplies in as little as a few months, to a few years at most. With all the food and fresh water sources gone, even those "lucky few" would die too. No one would survive. Nearly all life on Earth, save perhaps some microbes on the bottom of the deepest oceans, would all die. The entire surface of the Earth would be a smoldering, radioactive wasteland for thousands of years. As I said… The End of All Things.
So the majority is held by our alliances. That's good at least.

These commenters live in a dream world. I agree that Putin using Nuclear Weapons on Ukraine would make him a war criminal… If he isn't already… But I don't see any of them rushing off to Moscow to bring him to justice and unless he's overthrown from within, no one else will be doing that wither.
The best way to deal with this and the brutal fact that more nations like Iran, North Korea and others will eventually have their own nuclear arsenals is for the free world to chip in and build a massive defense system against all types of Nuclear Weapons. People hated Reagan in the 1980s for even proposing funding research into such a program but it's very possible that had his SDI Program been property funded, we would have a practical system in place to intercept the vast majority of nuclear warheads in a limited or all out strike.
The technology is there to build such a system if we actually put the time, money and resources into it.

I fear the world is now closer to nuclear war than it was during the Cold War. I pray that somewhere there are people who will say, hey, stop, we've gone too far. As things stand, no one is ready to blink. I survived the war. I know how a person thinks when he thinks that all his options have disappeared and that he is struggling for his own existence. And that he is ready in his fear to drag others with him.
