I'm glad you found another purpose for pyracantha besides looking beautiful. Be careful with your hands.
Hope it all works out. I really hate the slimy villains.
Copper is the only fail safe I've found, they've made their ways over any sharp thing I've ever found. Years ago now, my sister bought a VERY old house, levelled it, and self built a new one on the plot. She took all the old plumbing works out with the copper pipes and fitted around plants. That has been the ONLY thing I have ever seen that has worked completely. But you might prevent A LOT of it even if you don't get em all!
some of the holes in the Chinese cabbage could be flea beetle mine look like that outside I'm thinking about pulling them up because there full of holes keep going out at night squashing them and more just keep coming
Sorry the slugs have had the plants Ivan, hope the salt and holly leaves work. Thanks for the update.
It’s an ever ending battle isn’t it, we had a super hot dry summer and it seemed to stop most slugs but now the rains have come back so have the slugs. I am trying copper mesh around the base of my brassicas and so far so good but it’s never a perfect plan 🤬🐌. Have a fantastic week Ivan and Ginny 🐝 safe
I am not sure about salt the salt could kill the plants hope the holly works
Thanks Ivan, every little thing helps, we just have to keep trying with different methods such as copper wire and beer traps etc (I don't like wasting beer though lol). I believe you can buy natural nematodes to put into your compost that kill them. Take care and all the best. Stevie
