38 LANDSCAPING IS HERE! Our front yard makeover – Week 3 of 8



WEEK 3 of 8: Brian and I are official guest participants in the 2021 fall #oneroomchallenge and we just finished week 3!

The one room challenge is a network of designers and bloggers who challenge themselves to complete one room in their house from start to finish in 8 weeks.

Always ready to “up the ante” we’ve made it our goal to not just finish one room, but to finish the entire HOUSE! 😳 This soon-to-be #Airbnb will be ready for guests by the end of the challenge!

This week it felt like Yard Crashers at #thefedonfederal. We had several family members come and help us plant the front yard. The night before the work began, we went to A. Brown and Sons Nursery in Brookville, Ohio to choose our shrubs. The rain came down HARD and we had to make our decisions fast!

The next morning we headed over to “The Fed” bright and early to start clearing the front. When Laura’s brother John, and her parents arrive, we start digging holes and getting things in the ground. It’s amazing how quickly the front of the house is transformed with some greenery!

Later in the week we begin tackling the back porch and put our strength to the test busting up the old concrete and hauling it away. Unfortunately our work week is cut a bit short when Laura loses a fight with a yellow jacket.

We’re Laura and Brian, also known as “A couple of Quinns.” We love our city of Dayton, old houses and dogs. Recently we purchased a 1905 federal-style fixer upper in Dayton Ohio’s historic Grafton Hill neighborhood, and have been renovating it during the pandemic.
