After 20 years of slowly building this beautiful backyard garden, Jill and her husband Bill have recently decided to sell their home (Austin’s 10,000th Energy Efficient Home) and move to Canada to start the transition from “Backyard Gardeners” to “Full Time Farmers.” Tom Tinguely, owner of The Great Outdoors, contacted us and said how much he loved Jill and how he really wanted to create a video that captured her beautiful personality and her breathtaking backyard garden before she took off for Canada.

In this video Jill walks us through her home garden and gives us tips about harvesting tomatoes, eggplants, basil, and dewberries in Austin Texas.

  1. You are very fortunate to have a nice garden. I trim heavily the plants. Good air circulation is essential for all plants. My 🍅 tomato plants have green leaves only on top of the plant. No leaves in the middle or the bottom. ✌

  2. Am Aussie very informative and this is what I want to do too

  5. Beautiful. I enjoyed the video. I liked the comment about giving back what the earth has given us. I've been thinking about a clothesline. I'm going to do it next spring.

  6. I really like your width of your garden beds. They tend to be wider than what I often see on youtube. A wider bed means more opportunities in diversity and layers, better use of garden to walkway ratio, as well as better water retention in the soil. I tend to promote the narrowest a garden bed should be is to still have the ability to reach the middle from both sides.

  7. I have a beautiful garden in my roof top. Your your video inspiring me to make some video
