Definitely an exciting time. With being in zone 9a and had the threat of frost already. I was definitely outside covering my garden just to be safe. When you mentioned the Walla Walla Onion's I am hoping that you have a type that is a short day onion for our time zone as those are the type we get better results from. I am definitely very curious to see how your peanuts progressed. I recently found that my beets have germinated and are popping out of their spots. I am very excited to watch them grow this year too. I am just excited to watch it all grow, who am I trying to kid. LOL! I am definitely enjoying watching yours grow as well. 😊
Great Video. Never thought about the AZ heat vs Garlic in AZ9B. Totally different technique than 6B-7B grow zones. Thanks for sharing. 💜💜💜 AuntieEllen 🤟🏽
I’m getting ready to plant my garlic tomorrow! I live in north Phoenix. Last year I was late to the party but just about every garlic bulb grew! They were small but I think that is because I planted them in mid-late November. I did put them in the fridge for about 6 weeks. This time I’m soaking my garlic in fish fertilizer it’s supposed to help. We shall see! I have been geeking out on my little garden because stuff is actually growing well! My spring/summer stuff lasted till about July and then it was toast and everything was consumed by squash bugs and horn worms. It’s nice to not really have to work as hard to keep everything alive right now. 😂
Im going to try garlic and dill this fall.
Hey Tiffany, I planted garlic in a small kiddy pool in the Spring of 2022. It did well; however, I found out that garlic 🧄 should be planted in October for zone 6. I planted some elephant garlic several weeks ago that has roots about 3 inches long. (I accidentally dug up 2 today). I was pleased to see that they had taken off so well. I still have more garlic to plant in the next few day. My main focus has been winterizing my garden and protecting my fall plants. Your garden is looking great.
I just planted my garlic last week. I'm in El Paso, Texas- zone 8a. Last year was my first year growing it, and I had moderate success. I think I know the mistakes I made, so am hoping for a better crop this year! Are you familiar with the YouTube channel Growing in the Garden? That gardener lives in Mesa, Arizona. You should look up her video on growing garlic 😊. I have also gotten a lot of information from the videos from The Ripe Tomato Farms. Even though the guy grows in Canada, he just knows a lot, and his videos are really good. He has one that explains the whole life cycle of garlic very well.
I'm buggered if I can grow Sage!! LOL!!
So exciting! I am planting garlic too. I’m waiting for my shallots to be delivered and I’ll be planting those as well. My celery is still doing great even after the frost. Seeds that dropped off of my mustard plants are popping up and they look better than they ever have. It’s been pretty warm and rainy. The frost lasted about four nights
All positive vibes, come through garlic
I planted our garlic last week. And so far I've only had to replant 3. The squirrels typically dig up my garlic and plant their nuts and seeds. This year after harvesting all of my summer fall veggies I let the garden rest for 1 to 2 weeks depending on how hard the beds worked this year. During that time the squirrels burried their treasures.
Zone9 So CA…I find if I start garlic in Sept, bulbs are ready by July. We get moderate frost in winter…garlic tends to grow despite neglect here. Best garlic consistent when planted in earthbox. Sage on the other hand, doesn’t like to be watered too much… I haven5 quite figured out the sweet spot….
Besides fave… what beans grow well in zone 9 ?
Those are some gorgeous looking garlic cloves. I have had much success on garlic. But I get a few good size bulbs. I just ordered my onion starts from Dixondale Farm. I have been ordering from them the past three years. Thank you for sharing your garden.
Freezer full of collards! YES YES YES!!!
Please check but I believe you are not supposed to plant garlic near asparagus, peas, beans, sage, parsley, and strawberries, because it will stunt their growth, Your videos are amazing
