I know I said I was done buying fruit trees but I wanted this one for a long time and I had to get it. I’m glad I now have it. It’s a great mango variety.
Here is a description from Tropical Acres Farms about it:
https://www.tropicalacresfarms.com/product-page/phoenix
Phoenix is an exceptional selection from the breeding program of Gary Zill of Boynton Beach, FL, and was a Jakarta seedling (planting # C-26). The tree was so named after the mythological Phoenix because it was cut back for removal but came back later and fruited. The trees appear to be vigorous growers with vertical-oriented canopy. We planted several in 2017 and have a few grafted to Gary Zill’s experimental dwarfing rootstocks as well.
The flavor of Phoenix has been difficult for us to classify but falls somewhere between classic and Indian flavors, with a strong subacid component to balance out its rich sweetness and having some resin present. Regardless, we consider Phoenix to be an elite-flavored mango and one of the best of the newer varieties.
We will continue to evaluate its production in the coming years. Flavor: Indian/West Indian Country: Florida – USA

🤣 told you! Recently you had a video about limited space and taking down and selling trees but I commented that you were going to plant more trees. Enjoy your NEW mango!
You know what they say ..There is always room… for another tree… in your yard. I have a Pheonix… good tasting mango indeed
when i went to malaga, spain a couple of weeks they have this nice testing osteen mango. how i wish i could bring one grafted seedling to uk and take it to the Phils. when i get home.
Greetings Paul. Is there any special preparations you do for successful mango tree transplanting? Do you root prune weeks prior or water prior to removal? Anything special you add to your soil for a new mango tree besides your own compost?
You need to picket that fence all the way around the yard, because in a few years you are going to have a few uninvited visitors sneaking thru to help themselves. You in Florida man… Mangos are stomach and taste bud Gold..lol Got my mouth watering as I speak! Put that fence ALL THE WAY AROUND!!
Where did you get the Abiu tree? Thanks!

I recently discovered your channel and am subscribed. Very much enjoy everything you post. I liked that video you did at Lara Farms. I ended up buying the Improved Pollack/Lara.. I live in SoCal and it arrived about 6 days ago. It's tiny and in a 1 gal pot which I'm slowing introducing to indirect sunlight during the day, and bringing it into the house at night since the temps have dropped. The types of avocados in Florida are quite different than what we backyard farmers grow in CA. I have a Reed, Kona Sharwil, Endranol, and GEM, so I thought I'd try something a bit different and got the
Improved Pollack. I also bought a few Choquette avocados which I sampled. They are a very large and beautiful looking avocado, but have a lower oil content than what I am used to. Thanks for your videos!!
Gonna be a lot of raking leaves in the fall…good luck
