also in Calgary, hate city living but can't find reasonable land/farm
Thank you for this. One real story equals 100 polished lessons. My wife and I lived with my inlaws for 4 months while we saved and shopped for a home. I loved my inlaws. I would come home from a very stressful job in NYC and there was dinner on the table. My wife, in hindsight said, why didn't we stay longer? Obviously, we felt guilty imposing even though the loved to have us there. Both of my inlaws have passed on, living long and fruitful lives and my wife and I purchased her parents' home, the house she grew up in, 7 years ago and that's when I started gardening and getting involved with regenerative agriculture and permaculture. My inlaws enjoyed their garden and I often think it would be nice for them to see what I've done with the place – all by my own hand. And the kids around the neighborhood refer to me as "the farmer". Now my daughter lives at home and works in NYC and comes home to food on the table. She keeps threatening to move out "tomorrow", but she says the food is too good! 😉 I guess she's smarter than we were.
We live in Arizona so rainwater harvesting is vital to our permaculture yard. Found your book first at the library and then found this channel. Thank you from the Arizona desert for helping us do our part to sustain ourselves and the earth’s resources. You are both such inspiration.
