Hi everyone!
My name is Tiffany and I live in your average city home in Central Arkansas (zone 7b). I’ve always considered myself a gardener but never ventured out past a couple pots of herbs, a tomato plant or 2, a cucumber plant, and maybe a strawberry plant (big maybe, we have a troubled history). As with many people, I felt a strong sense of urgency and duty to return to the earth for our needs, however, my urgency morphed into a calling of expansion that I could not ignore. FULL DISCLOSURE: I am a relative newbie. Outside of keeping plants alive, I am new to a lot of this, but I am confident that my efforts of sustainable agriculture and sustainable practices will have a large impact! I say all of that to say, join me and my family as we turn our regular, degular Central Arkansas home, into the ‘stead of our dreams. Do we have land? No. Are we experienced? Somewhat. Are we excited? YES! Are we trusting God’s vision for us? Absolutely. So without further ado, WELCOME TO ‘STEAD IN THE CITY!
Cheers,
Tiffe

Mulch?
Terra cotta pots on stumps?
Good for you! Can’t wait to see the progress!
Love this! I have been trying to figure out where I wanted to plant my pumpkins and I think I might do them on the side (my front yard) and the front of my house (where our parking spots are. I am trying to convince my husband to let me do some kind of garden in the front yard but beings we live in a mobile home park we don't know how our boss/landlord will fill about it, which he would probably be ok with it.
I love this we have a front yard community garden and I hope everyone does soon!!
Create a border with the stumps! I'm going to try this planting method one day when I can put plants in the actual ground.
I love this. I have a very small front garden that didn't get used for anything. This year I turned it into my veggie garden 🌿
This looks awesome! I had no idea about planting this method with kind of succession.
Maybe you could put from herbs or flowers in pots on top of the stumps? Maybe some that are long and flowy that hang and some that grow straight up. It would add to the different dimensions you might be trying to go for. Once again, beautifully done!
Good job and hope all goes well. I think too many people live in communities with HOA and you turn over your freedom then…sad.
Love the music too!
Do some type of fall flower planters sitting on the stumps. It would be cool to add some scarecrows to the mix too. 🙂
I love it 🥰 thank you for the encouragement.
For whatever reason I am having a hard time grasping how to do a 3 sisters garden. Looking forward to watching how this turns out!! I want to try it next year.
Can’t wait to see how things grow out big thumbs up Tiff
So excited for you! This is a dream of mine also. Next season it's happening 🎃 enjoy!
Oh Tiff, you're doing a great job but please don't hurt your back like that. Take the bag and dump it in the middle, then take a rake and spread it around, use your strength selectively and sparingly. I'm 72 and I have to make these logical decisions because I can't do hard work any more.
Less effort = more satisfaction. Anything to make life easier. I have to look at a job now and work out the best way I can save energy and effort… I don't want you to think I'm being patronising because I'm not, I just want to help you make your life easier with the gardening. Being a gardener like me who now has a bad back is no fun 😉
I love this! I think I am as excited as you to see this get established. I love the stumps too. It's going to be beautiful. My garden is in my front yard. I like what Jess says. Plant food not grass. 🌻🥰
So excited to see your patch!!!
Great idea for a fall three sisters garden and community sharing 💚
Maybe potted plants that deter pests? Excited to see how it turns out!
can’t wait to see it grow!!!
How is the pumpkin patch doing? Can't wait to see an update 🙂
How is the 3 Sisters Front Garden coming along. That was pretty cool. I heard about your Channel over on Roots and Refuge Farm channel.
