Here’s a Garden Update. Oh how time fly’s. A little over 90 days ago I planted a garden in my tiny backyard. I put this garden in an area that I never knew would be big enough. Well after this time we now have fruits and veggies growing in our backyard. I think I did terrible but I think it’s to be expected when you’re #startingbackyardgarden I’ve learned so much especially being in the tough area for #gardening here in #zone9 Well watch and leave a comment. I obviously need the help. lol (not funny tho)

You definitely have a green thumb for keeping any of those winter crops alive in this heat! This is the Lousiana Planting Guide for New Orleans which is almost a 9 area. It will tell you when to plant everything and you can adjust the times for next year as you become accustomed to how things grow this time. But I guarantee better, much better results using these planting dates. Good luck, keep growing! https://www.lsuagcenter.com/~/media/system/d/e/3/e/de3e7516e68dfee4a21a84b38caa4df8/pub1980%20vegetable%20planting%20guide%20rev%2001%2017pdf.pdf
Sorry, New Orleans is a 9.
Also get soaker hoses so you don't knock yourself out.
Wow,how can you all leave out there?
Attempt to use screening. Get some Miracle Grow for vegetables as well. Down the road….you might want to invest in a drip watering system as well. That way…you will NEVER be tied to the garden, should you be on the road a few days. Have fun with it. ✌
This is "Big White Guy" and his wife Janet checking in from Kentucky! Impressed with your garden! Following you daily! Moving back to AZ within the year!
Leafy greens like cabbage, lettuce and kale prefer cooler weather like fall , join some fb groups they are real helpful , I’m in like 9 groups and they are full of wisdom and experience
Sorry Super; that heat is BRUTAL!
117° is insane! I’m doing high fives I’m not in Phoenix anymore!
You are doing pretty well for being your first time. That’s something to be proud of 🥳
Sending Good Garden energy and zen your way!! Your garden beds are nice🌽🥬🥦🥕👨🏿🌾
Whatitdo Super!! Not bad for your first garden man, keep it going. You probably need some type of sun shade to protect them. You know our sun is brutal at this time of year. Tribe!
Melon plant looks good man! When it gets too hot they won't flower and produce fruit. So just hang in there with the melons.
Next project, pergola on a dime, can't wait. Don't worry our garden is fried down in casa grande. My big upset is my roses, boyfriends big upset is the birds eating the tomatoes and the sun making them sun dried. Need shade, we are installing 12x60ft shades, it's so hot the heat radiates off the rock and wall. But my cantaloupe is thriving in the corner in shade, shade, shade. Love you man, say hi to the family.
Get a huge citrus tree!
Love the new intro. Join a few gardeners groups on Fb. They will give you tips.
Everything that did not survive should be planted in mid August, those veggies are cool weather crops. Follow the Az planting guide https://www.urbanfarm.org/2017/10/01/planting-through-the-low-desert-seasons/ or Az Cooperative. Once you follow the guide, you can grow all year round in Az! Water deeply and add mulch to your garden to keep the surface roots cool. I can water every other day and everything this thriving. Also fertilize with an organic water soluble fertilizer to feed your plants. Also shade 40-50% shade cloth is a life saver!
Put some "Miracle Gro" plant food and fertilizer, in your garden. Plants do better, when you feed them miracle gro.
Go to Walmart, or garden supply store, and get plant food and fertilizer made by miracle gro. Watch the results of your plants growing 👍👍👍👍👍
I was Born in fort Wayne Indiana, but I call Milwaukee Wisconsin, my home.

Wow love this! You are like the most real zone 9 gardener yet…the heat is brutal and burns everything up! It does! My first year even the peppers and tomatoes burnt to crisp. I think you’re doing great. Earned a subscribe.
Just came across you channel, I hope you guys give the garden another go this season!
