  1. I'm in Houston, too, and, I LOVE FIGS!

Have not found a source for fresh figs near my home in the Southeast, near Hobby Airport.

I will seriously come help you pick and dress them for a few bags in return.

    Pls. LMK

    Thanks!

    Linda

  2. I've got 3 fig trees here in the Hill Country at the NW edge of San Antonio. They are the easiest tree to grow and I don't even water them. I recommend you keep all your fruit trees short so you can reach the fruit without a big ladder. Just did a video on that.

  3. Just wanted to give you a heads up that LSU purple is a variety that is known to take a couple years to really get their full flavor, but after a few years usually taste great.

  4. Dear MoShow…
I see you have such a big fig tree, I am amazed. I have been trying to find someone who can share some cuttings with me to see if they grow okay here in Puerto Rico. I am more than willing to pay for shipping and handling charges. please let me know if you can share some cuttings with me or sell them to me if you can't give them away.
    Very Respectfully,

  5. I make fig preserves out of my Celeste figs , equal amounts of sugar to weight of figs , no water , simmer on low for a couple of hours , delicious , put in hot Mason jars pints or quarts for later !

  6. I have several LSU fig trees, mine are absolutely delicious. Maybe it's the soil, grown
    on a Sandy hill

  7. Mo, as a former Houstonian now living in the Corpus Christi area, my two older fig trees are producing very little fruit in summer. What's your fertilizer recipe, please?

  8. I am sure you know by now but if you don't add enough sugar in your preserves, they just won't keep… they will explode!!

  9. Gorgeous fig trees! Since we had unseasonably cold winter this year (for Texas), I was glad to see that it was still alive once spring arrived. I've never trimmed mine, so it's still a bush, instead of a tree. I'll find out how to remedy this, as your's is inspirational… It would probably help me deter the squirrels, if their "cover" was blown! Between the mockingbirds and squirrels, we're lucky to harvest ANY for ourselves. LOL BTW.. what is the approximate age of your large tree?

  10. Dear moshow I’m also from Houston Texas Willowbrook área and my neighbor gave me one cutting and told me to get some rooting powder and I did now I have a beautiful 2 year Celeste fig tree las year I harvest about 40 or 50 figs kind of small but very sweet and this year I’m eagerly waiting to see how many figs I can harvest! Your yard looks very clean and neat and I’m happy to hear that you can grow so many different fruit trees in Houston! Best wishes 😀

  11. Hello, I am trying to plant figs in my farm now and I would like to know, how long did it take for your fig tree to grow that big and to bare fruit.

  12. Sugar acts as a preservative. So if you remove all of it, you may need to freeze your jam to preserve it in the long term.

  13. I wish I saw your video before I placed an order for fig trees. I bought 17 varieties and just ordered last on Tuesday and just got a notice saying they were shipped this morning. I watched youtube and bought everything anyone said they were good. oh well. Thank you.

  14. Your garden looks neat, I especially love how you squared the fig trees in, what kind of wood edging materials are they, 2"x"?
