  1. you have over the years taught me and my famly so much we all apprececiate sorry for my spelling I suck at this stuff but keep on keeping on.

  2. Where are the weeds coming from? You buy your soil and put it in your raised beds. You also compost. Are the weed seeds surviving the composting process?

  3. I control one of my favorite edible weeds, Purslane, in a old fire pit. It makes an excellent container. Chickweed I pull and eat. Even if I am pulling it, I always seem to have more than enough. :0)

  4. Great info. We grow numerous weeds on our land from dandelion, chick weed, dead nettles, etc. Also sent out clover under fruit trees this year.

  5. I was thrilled when "weeds" came up in my garden, because bugs were eating all the sprouts so I had to protect them with plastic bottles with screening. This means the bugs are less and I might actually be able to sow some plants without protection someday. I sprinkle the dandelion flowers over the whole garden and also the Rose Orach seeds because these grow year round here and are a source of fresh greens and they are beautiful. I love my weeds.

  6. Mâche is cultivated in France, considered as a delicate salad, that has the advantage to grow well in winter.

  7. Hey John, just a note from SE Texas. I watched the boogie brew video 6 weeks ago and ordered. I've had tomatoes, peppers, carrots, onions and much more out since early February. First application of boogie brew literally caused a growth explosion. I've been gardening for MANY yrs and have never seen anything like this. I'm a happy, happy, happy old southern woman! 🌹🍀🌱🌿🍃🌻

  8. in most countries, what we consider weeds are just good eats or good medicine. the pesticide industry started the "weeds are no good" propaganda that killed the idea of foraging. clovers, sticky plant, dandelions – these are high in nutritional value. my grandmother used coleus for its medicinal properties. what we need is to deprogram the brainwashing associated with these plants labeled "weeds".

  9. John, have you checked out 'living web farms' channel? As you are aiming for acreage, you might find it useful. )

  10. I like the wild lettuce for its attractive leaf shape to use as a decorative base for a salad plate. Like other lettuce it is easy to control at the seed head stage before it opens to disperse the little umbrellas cut it and paper bag it. I had one weed I could not identify until one matured and I had snapdragons hanging over the edge of the planters keeping the pollinators happy.

  11. I convinced my friend to eat some of the leaves off of a plant I found and saved before I identified the plant it turned out to be a wild bergamot

  12. Today I was out in the garden fixing drip irrigation, a race track of 3/4" pvc with intersecing 1/2" drip line to 1/4" micro-line. I had to pull an existing 1/4" line out of the 1/2" to splice over a section that had a hole in it for an unknown reason.

The 1/4" line slipped out of my hand and the end of the 1/4" tube stuck straight into the dirt head first and filled with dirt. So I placed the tip of the 1/4" tube in my mouth and sucked the dirt out with the water inside flushing the dirt clear. I thought it worked great as a way to clear the tube of dirt.

The water tasted like chemicals that the black irrigation line is made of terribly strong too. The system is years old and has been used a lot this year. I would have thought the water was comfortable for the plant; but, this is not the case. I need to get away fro the drip line as much as possible for the health of the plants. I am sure the plastic of the drip line is hurting the plants.

John, I ask that you sample the water inside your system and tell me what you think of it and don't you agree this is not good for production.

  13. John hey I stated to grow lamb quieter over the Winter and now there 6-7 inches tall can you give some info on that!dont know when they can go outside its still cold in zone 7.

  14. Check out Susun Weed's books. Chickweed is good for the gonads and weight control. It's good in salads and sandwiches.

  15. We eat that, Maori call that "Puha"…, get it at that stage, pull the root out too and boil up a medicinal tea – it can be a little bitter but you can add honey too the tea and it is much nicer.
