Filmed this over a period from October 2021 to January 2022. Rainy season has been tough for the balcony. Many lessons learnt and hopefully when the next one comes, I will know how to make the garden flourish in the rain 🙂 how is your gardening coming along?

If you guys are garden enthusiasts as well, please do share some of your gardening secrets, I would love all the help I can get.

  1. Hi, Существуют палки, их можно воткнуть в землю и привязать к растению, это должно помочь что бы оно не падало и его не сдувало ветром.

  2. If you have spider mites or aphids, then you need to treat it as soon as possible. I do it at night when they come out to eat. You will have to treat either every few days or once a week depending on how bad it is because they can hatch more eggs very quickly. Else, your garden is beautiful.

  3. For spider mites, aphids, spray your plants with water. If predator insects make it up that high, then just leave some of the pests for the predators to eat. Use water spray to clean whatever plants you harvest for eating.

Collect your plant material at the bottoms of your pots. Add worms if you have them and it will become soil very quickly. If you want to grow in that container, just add soil to the top 2-4" for the young plants. You can also rot your organic material and use it to water your plants. Rot long enough and all the plant material will break down to be used by your other plants. Just cover your rot container. No smells when covered.

  4. Wow! You successfully grow baby tomato! I also live in Jakarta, but my baby tomato won't grow (blossom drop). Good job!
You can try bokashi composting. Use em3 (the yellow bottle one). You can use the water as a daily fertilizer, because container gardening easily lose the nutrients.
Now i grow okra, eggplant, garlic, kucai, kangkung, melon, lime, guava, malabar spinach (it's a beautiful one too!), And chili (cuz it's expensive now 😆).
My next project is growing swiss chard and komatsuna. Both grow well in hot city like Jakarta.

  5. You can dry the leaves in sun and use it as mulch or if mixed with soil it be safer if you dry them in sun first, especially if you have pest
