    I just watched a video using buckets to make self watering plant pot. I hadn't thought of the colors. They do not like the sun. The handles seem to be the first thing to break.

    BTW, Robbie always cautions us against clear tubs. Robbie is right!!! They do not stand up to the sun!! Wont even last half a summer before becoming brittle and cracking like glass.     I place handles down on the most shady part of my buckets to keep the little plastic handles from getting brittle. The metal is not as comfortable to carry without them.

    I save the big square buckets that kitty litter come in drill tons of holes in them and use them, are they ok. to use?

    Very informative. I use buckets from Lowes and Home Depot. I also get the ones my friend who is a Deli manager discards. The ones that come with cake frostings. I even repurpose milk crates and laundry baskrts.

    I love colour too.
    I'm not very computer savvy and not any good with links but I found this fabulous thing on pintrest – I looked up colorful palette birdhouses to make (no they aren't made from palettes) and I think that they are absolutely amazing. I even got my husband to make me some but mine aren't as colourful (couldn't help myself with the spelling : ) ) – YET!!! If you do check them out I hope you love them as much as I do : )

    If you have an indoor kitty and buy cat litter in plastic containers, you can turn the empty container into a grow pot that will last for many years. Remember to punch a few drainage holes in the bottom
