  1. Those beet greens are good eats. Let those parsnips grow…they will get way bigger than that one you pulled up, they can go untill spring gets too hot, don't let them bolt…they take forever. Those carrots are looking good, I didn't grow any this year and I'm kicking myself in the@$$ 🙂 Yes winter carrots ARE THE BEST! When I was a tad up north, we kept them burried in hay over winter. I remember going out, clearing the snow off, and digging some out for supper many times. They would be frozen solid like a rock. Mom would cook them up and they tasted like they were just picked yesterday, better than fresh IMO. There is absolutly nothing you can buy at the store that compares…not even close.

  2. This is great, I love your garden tours! We get snow in 7a, would you recommend making a cold frame or what would you recommend? I had chard for the chickens that survived through one snow but not the next. I just rest my garden covered in leaves and compost because I'm not sure about what cover crop would work?

  3. I’ve got a Karota and a Purple Dragon batch of carrots that were planted in the fall in containers as my first try at winter carrots. I sprout the seeds on wet paper towels in ziplocks and then plant the successful sprouts in a circle around a tall pot. So far they look great. It will probably be another month before they are ready to harvest.

  4. I'm growing my carrots in a big pot. Big, best ever. It's going to be cold cold here for Texas should I harvest them now?

  5. Alright alright alright thanks Travis and family. We're still enjoying carrots, collards, lacinato and Red Russian Kale, Brussels Sprouts, purple and green Kohlrabi, parsley, celery and Beets. Everything is definitely more flavorful after having gone through a few frosty nights.

  6. Will you do a warm season cover crop for the chickens to graze? I want to start doing this with my chickens, but I wait to late to do a cool season crop. Really enjoy your videos I watch them all.

  7. Wow looks like a Great harvest lots of rewards. We’ve had some extremely cold temperatures down here too in the mid to low 30s a few nights but I am getting anxious to pull the carrots I’m thinking I still have a couple three weeks though. Looking forward to seeing your roadside stand with the kids. That should be fun

  8. I overwintered carrots also right now they are under 2 ft of snow I hope they will come back will see in the spring we are in Massachusetts

  9. I had to double check the video I had clicked on for a second. You looked like Danny McBride! Must be the new cop stache you're sporting. How about a video on how, when and how often to fertilize fruit and nut trees. And another on soil ammendment. I live in the sand hills of the Florida panhandle and can't grow anything unless it's in a raised bed. I'd really like to have some ground plots like yours

  10. I forgot bout the Veggie stand I'm only 20 min away maybe next time, btw just planted my tomatoes & peppers from seed today.

  11. Beautiful garden Travis, but I'm up North and you've managed to plant" Georgia On My Mind" in my garden ear!

  12. Holy crap, I was wondering where you were for the past year from Hoss, and even asked if you had a new channel in the comments a few times. Recognized your face in a recommended video thumbnail. Glad to have found your new channel!

  13. So nice to see someone has a garden growing! We still have another 3 to 4 weeks before I can plant anything out (expecting another ice/snow storm Thursday night into Friday). I Hope Abram’s garden stand is a success this weekend.

  14. Most of my cold tolerant stuff but the dust, too. I think they were just too tender after the warmer weather this winter to tolerate the cold so quick. Zone 8 south Arkansas.
I have cilantro seedlings and dill sprouts to replant once the weather stabilizes.

  15. What was the variety if the carrots you said smelled so good and did they taste as good as they smelled?? Please.

  16. Boldor is a winner for me . Man i have very poor results on my brussels but hopin this round will be better. Good luck at the veggie stand

  17. Travis . I have never been great at growing root veg . I pretty much stopped trying , but you are making me want to give beets and carrots another go . I live where it never gets too hot . So i can do it soon.😀😀

  18. Its snow here in St.Louis,I love your channel watch it all the time cant wait till spring.

  19. Sampled a few of our Chantenay carrots this past weekend. Still a bit small, but really tasty! The carrots we pulled never made it into the house, we ate them straight from the garden. The dogs ate all the greens…the liked them so much that our Pyrenees decided to go out to the garden and do some "selective harvesting" on her own!

  20. I have tried beets twice, beautiful tops but no beets to talk about. Same with rutabaga. I want to grow them so bad 😒

  21. Roasted fennel with chicken is amazing. I don’t do a dry roast but rather use chicken stock to give it flavor while softening. You should give it a try.

  22. Did you ever check out the compostable veggie bags? It looked like the link I comments with was flagged by YouTube and deleted.

  23. roasted fennel is delicious. toss it in the pan when roasting beef or chicken

  24. Hey Travis! Just catching up on my viewing here so this meal idea might come too late if you've already gotten rid of your fennel… Best way I know to eat it is to bias cut palm sizes pieces (along with similar sized slices of carrots, bell peppers, zucchini, summer squash and portabella mushrooms), rub with a good olive oil + salt + pepper. Grill them up on your gas grill and top with a big dollop of warmed goats cheese. Yum. Pair with grilled fish or a nice thick steak!

  25. Have you tried insect netting on your spinach? It does a great job keeping flea beetles off my turnips and young potatoes.

  26. I love this video. It's really good and helpful to see what you grow and how they turn out because I'm a beginner gardener and I enjoy learning. Thanks for making this video.
