You need to prep the soil before you put the plants in it.
You guys nailed the thumbnail pic! 😍😂
Per usual, she shoots, she scores.
❤️ 👀 watching 👀 the two of you…
(NEVER a dull moment ❤️ )
Dean: 'why do you always lock the car on me?' I hope Dean knows the true answer to that question 😐
Andrea you strong woman! Sounded like you didn't have the best day, but you still started planting a garden 💪
You guys are amazing, making me laught during the whole video, and you did a great job as always!
It's so funny to watch Andrea trying to concentrate and make decisions and Dean is just fooling around the whole time. So fun. But the result is really nice.
Remove the tags from the plants!! kept bothering me throught the videos. I thought they will remove them at the end of the video,
FYI barberry is banned in NE PA as it is an invasive.
As usual, I enjoyed watching you so so so muchhh!!!!! I love seeing u messing with each other 🤣🤣
You will regret those Barbary. I hated mine.
I am a gardener and you need to soak the plants realy well and water them every day or other day for 2 -3 weeks. also i woukd advise composted manure, blood and bone meal and peatmoss to lighten the soil. you will get much better results this way
Love from North Texas! I adore you guys! Lol! Fresh set of KICKS!
Also, fill to holes with water and amendments then place plants and cover.
Please tell me you guys are sponsored by Lowes as the amount of free advertising you give them is craaaaazy – you even wrote a jingle to sing on the way to Lowes!
Wow looks great 😊
✌️👍
It’s so much better. Did you look at how big the plants get, I always tend to plant the larger plants and then drown out the smaller ones in the back🤪
SPOILER ALERT for next week @21:40 yard looks great guys!
So pretty. It looks so nice, and makes your home look nice.
So glad we have drive up mulch services. I just pop the trunk.
Great job guys so beautiful… teamwork ❤️
Dean and Andrea .. incredible work ethics on display.
Nice, quiet blower. Yay you!
Please don’t just throw your plants in a hole and sit back waiting for them to die! At least soak them before planting, they should be dripping wet..
Very nice. Yes, TX weather.
Fun Fact: Pumpkins are plants. 😃👍
15:02 We'll start calling you Dump Truck Dean! 🍑😃👍
Your husband is soooo funny. He is just not right.
OK hon I can see by the comments you have a lot of people giving you tips and advice… But I have been an exterior decorator and designer for 20 years and I’m leaving you this message after having major surgery and being in major pain, so please know it’s only because I am watching your video and I want to see you succeed with the area in front of your house and give you the best advice I can to have them thrive. So for starters the best thing you could do is get some landscaping spray paint which would be a canvas raise at the top not at the side it’s usually orange sometimes red yellow either way it goes away. Read the tags on each one of your plants and you can do this now even though you planted them. Do you want to read the tag and you want to draw out a circle in your planting area of how big they’re going to get so how wide they’re going to get so then you’ll have the big circles of how wide they’re going to get. Then in the circle for each plant use the landscaping paint and write the number of the height they’re going to get so then you’ll have a why they’re gonna grow and then in the center of the number of how tall are gonna grow. That will tell you where to place your plants and how far apart you need to place them even though in the beginning it’s going to look sparse They’re not gonna die off because they don’t have the room to grow and they’re not so close that one is growing or taking all the nutrition to try to grow to the size it’s supposed to grow and therefore killing off some of the others. Then you need to address your soil, Your soil is hard and it’s gray which means it doesn’t have any nutritions in it. So you need to get a really good starter plant fertilization as well as if I was you I would get some good topsoil and I would till it into the ground to break up that hard soil and get some better soil mixed in with that hard grey rocky soil, so I do that first and then once you have all your circles drawn out and you know how tall your plants are gonna get you said the plants that I can get the tallest in the back on the circles of their size and then you layer them forward the shorter they’re going to get and if you don’t want to and topsoil to the whole garden at least put some good soil in the hole and take the soil you have and fill up a bucket or something with it and get rid of it then before you plant your plants put in a good quality starter plant fertilization because your plant is only as good as the soil you plant in what you add to it and how well the roots do even if the tops don’t look great if those routes are establishing correctly then you’re gonna have a happier healthier plant that will last longer or will grow strong enough to withstand Extreme weather stream storms etc. so you really want to work on mapping it out first and know that where you’re setting your plants they’re not too close together it’s far enough apart but they’re going to grow in and not overcrowd each other and that you’re not putting ones in the front that are going to over grow in the height and you’re not gonna see the ones in the back so if you map it out the way I said and like I said the best way that we do it As a designer is with landscaping paint is that where you get your circumference how big it’s gonna get when it’s grown and you get how tall it’s gonna grow as your number on the inside like 4 feet 5feet 2 feet or whatever it might be. Then you need to amend that soil even if you’re just putting some soil in each hole and pulling out some of your own basically dead soil the color and texture of your soil it’s dead there’s no nutrition to feed those brand new plants. Then each hole add a starter fertilizer! If you follow these instructions you’re going to have a better chance of your plants roots spreading out and taking hold and there for giving you a better result in the end. The biggest problem people have is your such a large area and if you set them out the way they’re going to grow my size it’s still gonna look sparse to you But that’s normal because they’re only starter plants but as they grow they’re going to grow and look great so you just have to live with that look for a small amount of time. And then you want to make sure you water them in immediately and you will not have air pockets like some people have mentioned if you take out some of your soil add a good topsoil then a good starter plant fertilizer at that when you can add some water to the hole if you want or you can plant them and pack them in not too tight but you don’t want air and then just water them all in really really well the first time right after you’re done. And then if you’re having a really warm spell make sure they get watered daily in the morning or at night and then as the weather changes if you’re getting a good amount of rain they’re going to get what they need if you’re not then have them watered periodically just less watering in the winter because that’s when they’re going to go dormant. You also want to keep the tags and maybe put them somehow right where the plants are in the ground or on a steak or something and write on it when they’re supposed to come out and grow so if they are spring bloomers or summer bloomers or fall bloomers you’ll know and if the plant looks dead on the top but yet they’re not supposed to bloom until late summer you won’t pull them out because you think they’re dead. So if you write down the stuff that I’ve told you and follow it you’re going to have so much more success with that area and any area so that is the advice of a exterior decorator designer for over 20 years and those really are the basics. I know it’s long but I have to speak this because I just had major surgery and I can’t type. I just want you to have a great experience help your plants have a great experience and for you love your garden for many many years to come especially with all the hard work. God bless and happy growing, both in knowledge and in your front garden space😉❌❤️❣️❣️❣️
Amazing. Your front yard came out beautiful !!!! 🥰🥰🥰
I hope you cut off the tags
Put your drip system on a timer, mulch 3-5 inches deep, Espoma fertilizer and a side fyi…if you have a freeze coming…cover your plants with blankets/tarps 👍
Please, remove the labels from the plants. 🙂
I think I saw you planting pittsporum. If so, if you live anywhere near D/FW they won’t survive a hard freeze like we had 2 years ago. I had several really big ones that I loved and we lost every one of them! 😢
Lowe's needs to sponsor all your videos!
Native plants are a really good choice if you're looking for something that has adapted to the area over the past ten thousand plus years. They require little care and a lot less water. They are also helpful to bring back native habitat for birds, pollinators, other insects, and other animals. 🙂 You can start to plant some around what you have already planted. That way you have something alive if the plants you bought die or don't do well. Gradually increase the number of native plants starting with a triad of species planted in a grouping ( ]three plants per species), then aiming for 10% native plants in the garden, and over the years with annual plantings up until you get 80% native plants in the garden. The remaining 20% can be the annuals that you love. Herbs are great too! Letting them go to flower and dropping their seeds for the following year.
i'm soo excited for these new videos :))
Plants grow bigger!! Look at the name tag, on the back it will tell how tall and wide the plant will grow with optimal care. So be careful where you place them now, many variety of "Butterfly Bushes" will grow quite large.
Looks beautiful!
Clay soil? It's the worst….I always have to amend my soil with organic dirt and peat moss and water thoroughly….I wish I had a drip system, too. But, once your plants grow and fill in, it will look so good…Dean is a madman…lol..lol
Can I just say how much I love playful Dean? These videos are always so lighthearted. I'm still a young adult but already I feel the pressure to be quiet and fit into the norm, to not catch any attention especially as a girl / woman. So next time I'll have a little shopping cart race or dance to the music in the supermarket I won't feel ashamed anymore😊in these times, everyone needs to have these small moments of joy or we'll all go insane. So I hope everyone had a great day. And if not, there will always be a new day to start over or just reset. Also you're not alone!🥰
Mums are perennials. Plant your mums in the ground cut to ground in the spring and they will grow from the roots. They will be larger every year. Great team work!
Lowe's need to come through with sponsorship for you guys
I really enjoy your videos , it's always funny and nice. Thanks for that !
I read the comments first before I give my advice… BUT I found my advices already here. LOL This is why your plants do not grow!! water water water at FIRST: And you have spread the ROOTS BEFORE:a little bit so that they can get kontact to the ground easier. And your ground is super dry, take a ground activator and water the hole at first. You paid so much for your plants. please don't lose them. It is not too late. Take the activator and brung it near the flowers, an D A organic fertilizer. This is a must!!! I HOPE; YOU WILL DO IT !!! ;O))
Guys, you are cute an all, and love your channel, but the internet does not need another video of poor skills 😉
Where's the pitch fork and shovel? 🤣🤣🤣 Alright, started the video. Oh goodness!!! You guys know how to work it! 🥰🤗🤟
We had a very hot summer this year in an Oregon climate and our beautiful ages old Rhododendron is dying. Any tips from anyone would be helpful.
You did a great job DIY Wife. I'm not good at landscaping but this was my parents home, and my Mother was fantastic at it, God rest her soul. Wish I had your vision for planting.
Looks awesome👌
