If you’ve not already heard the news (and it’s been pretty loud and clear on my social media) I was on BBC’s Gardeners’ World last week. I almost have no words to describe how epic it’s been. I never in my life thought I’d make it on the most prestigious gardening programme in the world. Me, little ole’ Tanya Anderson with my little allotment on the Isle of Man!

In tonight’s video I share how I got the feature, what it was about, and an introduction to calendula and some of the skin care products you can make with it. It finishes up with my interview with Frances Tophill. It was so lovely meeting her and filming with her all day in the glorious sunshine.

Massive thank you to Frances for taking the time to give an interview and for allowing me to share it.

  2. Wow what an episode!! Two gorgeous gardeners for the price of one! This was a delight. Thanks, Tanya and Frances!

  3. wow you are really beautiful, I don't see a ring on that finger ๐Ÿ˜‰ im probably to young for you though…. but if you are in Arkansas I would love to take you out!!

  4. It was so fun it see you on GW Friday. My treat to my self on Friday nights is a cup on tea, Monte and his dogs and seeing you was a bonus!

  5. How exciting! Gardener's World is my favorite show, too. I subscribe to Brit Box through Amazon just for the show. You did great! And, your skin is glowing. Did you get to have a holiday somewhere fun?

  6. I've been feeling downhearted about my allotment for the last 2 weeks, I took it on in April and even though I've had a few good harvests I too have struggled with the marestail.
To hear Frances talk about marestail and the limitations she has with time when it comes to her plot has made me realise that, actually, I'm doing just fine. Your videos have also been a huge help to me having found you after seeing the gardeners world episode! Our plots are very similar! (and I spotted on Instagram that we both have Bay window vw campers!) ๐Ÿ˜Ž thank you for this video, and all previous videos ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ‘

  7. Well done Tanya, I watched it you were so natural and your products are amazing! We hope one day the team will visit our mico-farm too!

  8. I am growing calendula for the first time. I started from seed! I am just about to have my husbands families from UK for two months. Can I pick the flowers now and dry and then tend to them in October? Is there anything specific I should do to preserve?

  9. Awesome job on the program. I love your content. You are do aspiring. Trying to find your production but it looks like it was blocked on YouTube over here. My wife and I love your flower segments.

  10. Thanks for sharing this experience with us. We will have to find the show and watch it. You should have your own gardening television show as well! ๐Ÿšœ๐Ÿ‘

  11. Sneaky copy of Gardener's World on YouTube has already been removed. Wish your country was more generous with this lovely program. I miss it.

  12. Sorry to ask but, how do you grow up and take care of your lavender? Because I tried so many times without any luck to keep it alive for two to three months never less a year and yours look amazing. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us. God bless you.

  14. Great video I'm going to buy your book immediately, it's a shame we can't get it hardback copy

  15. the label of Green Thumb" was given to people who commonly pinched off the tips of plants that grow bushier when pinched back. the secret to "Green Thumb" is to observe and give plants what they seem to need. Eventually you figure it out but you will have stained pinching fingers. I wish I could give credit to the originator (some well known plants person, I'm sure) who said that the best fertilizer for a garden is the gardener's footprints daily.

  16. Good interview with Francis.Interesting to see how you use flowers from your plot to make your skin products.I make Calendula oil by infusing almond oil with petals only.I didn't realise you could put the whole head in or that some varieties were better than others.I do grow Indian Prince though. Will check out your recipes for Balm.Is there an alternative to Bees wax?

  17. Loved your video, Iam from Canada and a big time Gardeners world fan. You inspired me to make some cosmetics with flowers, sadly we do not have much growing time as most of the months here are WINTER! But I'll grow Calendula next year. Thanks.

  18. Congratulations for getting to be on your favorite show!
It is my favorite as well, among a few other BBC gardening shows.
I actually did see it, thankfully, and the segment came across beautifully.
I am a gardener in East Tennessee, USA, from a long line of gardeners that draws its roots from the Scots-Irish who settled the Southern Apalachian Mountains. Great to come across your channel and I have subscribed.

  19. Regarding mares tail…i tried evrrything to no avail. Now i use a weedburner as soon as it shows itself. Im hoping this repetitive burning will destroy the cell structure and eventually kill off the rhizomes.

  20. Was a pleasure filming with you for Gardenerโ€™s World, I was that camera guy! Best wishes Stef
