If you are potting soil for some herbs/succulents/flowers or you have some in-ground plants or small trees, then you need a basic set of tools and accessories. I’m making this video while waiting for my ADU garage conversion plans to be approved by the city. They were supposed to have been approved last week.

Accessories are for comfort (kneeling soft pad, gloves, sun hat), safety (goggles), and maintenance (sharpal, brushes, files).

The hand gardening tools for potted plants are very few:
1. Corona hand trowel. I like them with rubber handles. Wood handles break if you don’t maintain well.
2. Felco F2 hand pruners. I splurged on a high end set of Felco F2 pruners.
3. Nisaku NJP801 Hori Weeding & Digging Knife Hardened HRC58 Edition. Japanese gardening tool. My second splurge on a high end all around tool for digging weeds, potting, and cutting roots and small branches.

The gardening tools for in-ground plants and small trees:
1. Corona loppers to cut up to 1.5″ branches on small trees.
2. Shovel to dig bigger sections on ground.
3. Gravel rake.
4. Leaf rake.

Gardening accessories:
1. Gloves.
2. 3M Safety Goggles with foam around the frame to protect your eyes from dust, mist, etc.
3. Kneeling soft pad.
4. Sharpal tool sharpening accessory and/or metal file.
5. Nylon and wire brushes to clean tools.
6. Hat to protect from the sun.
7. Trash bag to use as a potting soil ground cover.
8. Rain wand to water plants.

That’s it for this city dweller. The pandemic is making me come up with creative ways to spend my time at home. Gardening…building sheds…creating videos…repairing appliances…local trips…
