The DIY Overhaul is finally complete! We wrapped things up on finishing my moms front landscaping and I’m jacked how it turned out. Michael and Brandon did an amazing job putting this whole thing together and I think Mike’s landscape design turned out great.
Most of you guys watched part one and know that I wanted to redo my moms front landscaping for her as a surprise. The front bed has been nothing but a dirt plot for over 2 years after we ripped out all the old landscaping.
Now that we have a few more resources to tackle extra projects like this, including the brains to get it done, I wanted surprise my mom with the front bed overhaul. I think it turned out very nice. We included elements that my mom wanted, including the fence an water fountain, and also input from Mike about plant material that would be complimentary to the design.
All in all, it was a win for the home team. It’s always nice when you can take care of your parents and pour back into them for everything they’ve done for you. Mom’s final reaction had a few more tears added, but just like her son, she’s an ugly crier, and so I kept those edits to a minimum, lol.

Did you fix it so the drip line would keep the water in the water feature topped up? My mother burned up a couple of pumps by not topping the water regularly.

Curious as to the thought process behind not using fabric/black plastic. Seeing as you planted perennials I would have thought you would have put something down first. Also why no edging material? I Know you did the deep channel, but would think that will eventually fill in and would need to maintain / re-edge it. I would think both those items would help in limiting long term maintenance, but that is an assumption on my part. Like how it turned out looks wise.

I never heard of drip systems until I moved to Vegas, 75% of the homes have them here. The systems in Vegas are very different, Much more complex
