How exactly are you composting the plants you pull out?
I enjoyed you explanation on the potting soils, I liked your story about your grandmother the values and about life with prices sky rocketing at the grocery store growing your own veggies and fruit is gratifying. Garden soil is supposed to dirt cheap but potting soil is a no brainer.
It rains every day. 💦💦💦💦💦💦I don't need soil that retains water.
Oh boy now I'm worried about my cucumbers. Hope I have them planted in the rights soil. Have you ever used a small baby pool to grow carrots or turnips in? I was thinking about trying that this year
Thanks for sharing 👍🏻
Potting mix and potting soil are two different things. One is soil and one is mostly peat moss
Omg Robbie … your videos seem to read my mind .. . U must have a camera hidden in my house 🤣 thanks for this video
thank you for this video. I've been trying to understand the difference about which soil to buy for years.. Funny story, when I was 14 my parents moved us NYC kids to 🇵🇷… on the land we had chickens whom I saw for the first time lay eggs, I was disgusted with the soft texture of the egg. I refused to eat those eggs, my mother told me where do you think eggs come from. I said the factory. 😅 and I always believed that. I would refuse to eat our chicken's eggs, I would tell my mom I wanted eggs from the factory… nowadays because I love growing my own vegetables I learned to eat farm eggs. But it wasn't easy 😂
Can u compost Magnolia leaves?
Great information and so helpful. You are so smart, thank you for sharing!
You're the best at explaining things❤️
Does anyone know about "sandy loam" and what sort of sand you need? Thanks for any help!
My container cucumbers start out great, then leaves yellow. Improved my soil with compost this year. Any fertilizer tips? Should I spray on fertilizer for healthy leaves? A little lost. Seeds just sprouted, so I have a lil time 😊
Do you remind people to purchase the best stuff that really helps plants of all kinds? OMRI the true ORGANIC non-gmo bill gates choice of meat–all gmo. Every garden/plant channel shows the fully organic compost/soil for all soils nationwide to world wide. Please—if you did, I may have missed that vlog. There are some great organic soil amendments, since I have clay too, and this year I do have a garden. What a wonderful difference.
We have clay in Pennsylvania! It is so HARD to work with! I purchased over $400 worth of garden soil and compost so far for my 400 sq ft in ground garden! Ugh!
Fungus gnats ate the tiny roots in my indoor garden. The large plants were ok, but the small ones never thrived.
The Garden Soil pictured has some bad reviews on the web, but it's an absolutely awesome soil, especially for the price! Can't believe everything you hear, and that IS the TRUTH!
Started saving toilet paper rolls and dryer lent for fire starters but the rolls quickly added up. Been looking for other good uses.
Is it true that cardboard has to be plain brown with no print to be safe?
Thank you sooo much for this!! I was just standing there looking at the dirt like what the heck do I buy!!
I absolutely love the story about your grandmother's corner lot. Brings back memories of my Daddy planting every fruit tree and berry vine he could get his hands on. He planted 2 huge gardens and we ate fresh vegetables every day. I just really wished I would have learned more gardening skills from him, but now that he's gone on to Heaven, the good Lord sent you and Gary to teach me!!
Robbie, you're so right about gardening with children. My first – and only – childhood gardening memory is of growing radishes in our kindergarten garden patch. After that, I always wanted to plant and grow things. My mother loved houseplants and landscape plants and had a huge collection, of which I was in charge of watering. That watering chore taught me a lot about plants and most of the time I enjoyed doing it. As an adult, I've always had something growing, even if it was only a sickly houseplant. Only now, as an empty-nester am I gardening in earnest, for the love of it, and now for the necessity of it. As Alfred Austin beautifully stated, We come from the earth, we return to the earth, and in between we garden. The rain has stopped and I'm on my way back outside. ~ Lisa
I like them unusual methuds, keeps it nu
I found that if I mix garden soil, with peat, and compost in equal parts I increase the number of pots I can fill and plant in. Plus I add 1 to 2 gallons (dry) of vermiculite that assist in drainage.
Thank you, a huge help to me
What a beautiful story. I believe the downtown grocery store in LA was called Grand Central Market near Angel’s Flight. What a treat. Thank you for sharing this information.
I was sick for much of my life with severe allergies and wasn't able to spend time outside. I had such a desire to garden and used to dream by my window. Now I am healed and learning to grow food but have made many silly mistakes. Thank you for your practical advice. My garden is growing!!!!!!!! I am so excited and sharing what I learn with my grown children. 🤗
Audio is all gargled…
I used to use top soil n mix with perlite n fish emulsion, the top soil was rich n black n now it’s wood. Ugh!
I planted tomatoes, peppers, zucchini, squash, cucumbers, as well as some herbs in containers along my fence this week. I have had a cherry tree, pear, apple, and peach tree along with black berries for years. So now, I will have some veggies to go with all my fruit! I have a small yard and have all of that!! Thank you for your inspiration Robbie!!
Thank you for the TOOL utube!
I got it..
Haven't started my container garden yet..BUT.
the Tool worked great to stop the neighbors cat from pooping in our front flower garden!
GREAT SUGGESTION!!!👍
My parents grew plum trees and my dad would tell us to eat with our eyes close to stop us from complaining about the worms.
My parents grew boysenberries in their yard, in a suburb of Los Angeles. I remember my grandfather's compost pile…leaves, grass clippings…it was wonderful!
Hi Robbie, So I have a flower bed outside patio that is hard so I can mix the garden soil there or do I have to mix something else? I removed two trees that aren’t producing any fruit and bird of paradise it was just a mess so I have peach tree there now and some pots sitting there and moringa. I want the soil to be a little bit loose so what can you suggest? Thank you so much for this video. Appreciate all this good stuff we’re learning so many we don’t know. Thank you u are a wonderful giving person ♥️🙏🏻👩🌾
