I’m building this desk for my wife and it’s going to go in the shed that will become her new office. The boards for the top of this desk come from Real Antique Wood and were once the floor joists from an old barn. The base of the desk will be painted a gloss white and I think the contrast is gonna look great and I know she’s going to love it.

Fantastic!👍
👍👍👍👍👍
Always top-notch craftsmanship, Jon! Exquisite.
Good to see that old wood being reused. That turned out to be a sharp looking desk.
what gorgeous wood, great vid!
Love your videos. Thanks!
good morning Jon. have you ever tried Wood wise wood patch? it comes in black and looks amazing. Your desk looks great. if I watch enough of your videos I might be able to kick out awesome projects too. thanks for all the great content.
The lumber coming out of the barn looks so rough and beat up. Then after the after the denailing and some milling, you have great looking wood. I really like the look of the Dutchman give the top
It's very very good
Love the simplicity of the table.
Super video Jon!! Thumbs Up. Nice quarter sawn material. Laurel will love it. I just finished a bench using 60yr old white oak and epoxy fill. I'll send a picture to you on IG.
Love the table top build Jon. Honestly I think the base already looks incredible as is. Almost appears like a whitewash look.
Beautiful work, Jon! Amazing looking table!!! 😃
Really well done!
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
absolutely gorgeous!
What a great project to be following! And that table is chock full of both craftsmanship and love, as your wife no doubt will appreciate. For those who don't know, Jon did several videos from his visits to Read Antique Wood, both out on a barn disassembly site and then back in their yard. Fascinating stuff!
Great job milling up that top. I'm sure she will make great use of the desk.
Thank you very much great job explaining everything
I see you drink cheap coffee! Might I suggest the dark roast in the future? I find it compliments a dark epoxy quite well! Lol. Beautiful looking table by the way.
:30 SMH. An old barn is a photogenic and romantic deathtrap. Unless it’s actually historic – not just old – this sort of reuse is the best option.
10:20 Shellac is awesome, cheap, and beautiful … and for most indoor projects, is really all you need.
Beautiful desktop Jon! Looking forward to the rest of the build. 👍👍
Hey Jon, good tip on the shellac underseal for waterborne finishes!
What a nice desk top (so much surface area!)–that old barn wood is beautiful.
That reclaimed white oak looks great~!! Can't wait to see the final shot of the desk. Another first-class piece of work, Jon~!
Fun project. Thanks for sharing the process with is Jon.
