We had a lot of those tamaracks when I lived in northern Maine. But here in southern New Hampshire where I live now, I have only seen the evergreen members of the Larch family.
My Mom starts a lot of seedlings indoors too. Late frost in NW Colorado, no choice. Short growing season, which I imagine is even more so for you in 5A. She is going to love seeing all your plants.
