This was my first year growing vegetables and herbs from seed and I had many successes, failures, and challenges. As I live in an apartment with a covered balcony, my gardening space is limited and I did all of my growing in containers. Still – even as a beginner I was growing my own food and…what an amazing feeling it is!

I’m working on my gardening and self-sufficiency skills as I have a long-term goal of living in the countryside and providing for myself and my community in an off-grid environment. 1. Omg those tomato plants are magical! I can't believe how huge they grew. One of my friends had aphid issues in his greenhouse so bought ladybirds online (who knew you could??) to help tackle it. I guess it's not as easy when out on a balcony! I loved seeing what all your delicious-looking veg and herbs became 😍 More of these please xx

  2. Hi friends! Thanks for checking out the video. 🥰 I'm curious to know how you feel about the fact that I used text descriptions in the video as opposed to recording a voice-over. Like? Dislike? I'd love to know your thoughts for what you'd like to see in the future!

  3. Such a lovely video and congrats on the successful tomato harvest! I'm curious – were those grown on your balcony? We have been hoping to get a tomato plant one day but north facing covered balconies never work out well for the tomatoes sadly. Also I totally was fine with the subtitles!

  4. I really enjoyed the video and the text is nice with the soothing music.

  5. We had our second year gardening here and our main issue was inconsistent watering/ not enough water and poor seed germination. We got loads of greens, potatoes, tomatoes, radishes, and sunflowers. Planning for a better growing season next year.

  6. A great Huzzah! for your garden success. You grew loads of good sized tomatoes! Do you have lots of sun? I harvested 14 butternut squash, 2 eggplant, quite a few hot peppers and it was a great year of tomatoes , too. I city garden . It is a “big” yard for an urban house, but too small for a traditional plot so i food garden in with my flowers. Only 1 cherry tomato plant, my kale and the butternut squash were purchased, the others were from a neighbor’s garden seed starter “leftovers”. Oh and the kale? I haven’t eaten it yet b/c it likes the cold, and I love it in cold weather soup – farro, kale and egg with a crusty bread. Can’t wait to see next year’s garden endeavor.
