    My suggestion. Start over by covering the area with cardboard, add new soil and amendments deep enough to plant your veggies and watermelon..

    Thanks for sharing your garden time with the kids. So many lessons learned by retracing steps. I've found that our gardens really teach us a lot, as we baby and nuture it daily. Of course it could be a spiritual place as well.
    I heard one of the kids talking about how they enjoy gardening compared to math… lol. You'll have to sneak a math project in when you measure and build the new containers for the problem area.
