  1. How much is a good price to pay for the tote. I just looked and the 275 size are $175 each on line. I have never heard of an IBC tote. What are they usually used for?

  2. You all need to go see Robbie and Gary they are the best at growing things in buckets, raised beds and plastic containers. They live in Southern California.

  3. We do a similar thing with 55 gallon barrels ($8) and pallet wood (free, by asking) for the frame. Our come from restaurant supply. Our last set of barrels had light molasses. It was a pain to clean.

  4. I did container gardening years ago – loved it. I could move containers around if they needed more sun or less. Also keep containers of marigolds near containers so mosquitoes stay away.
I picked up containers/ garden pots from trash after yardsales on Sundays – no one wanted to buy them so I got them for free. My friend made a waist high container garden for himself and another for his daughter using cinder blocks. Do it simple and it will work great !
Also, plastic buckets with nail holes for drainage work well, and are inexpensive.

  5. I get the 55 gal food grade barrels, which cost me $5 each, and cut them long way from top to bottom and make both into gardens with some very tiny small holes to let water out at bottom. If they are white, you can paint the outside of them black, blue, or whatever, and put some garden fabric inside before you line it with straw (yes, straw keeps water in the dirt on the bottom ). I get straw cause it keeps the bottom soil moist, and then layer with top soil, manure, then straw. Yes, I keep straw on top also cause it keeps soil from drying out too much. Then put the fabric over it and start planting. Its all on stilts.

  6. That’s a great idea. Wood is too expensive. We were going to build a bunch of wood ones. Not now.

  7. Just an FYI if you receive SNAP or EBT, it covers seeds, plants and trees that produce food. I suggest checking with your state and store. I’ve had luck only at Walmart. Unfortunately, some of the plants I was purchasing didn’t qualify for some reason (blue berry and a tomato). Maybe they weren’t in the Walmart computer correctly, who knows. I’m in WI. Good luck!!

  8. They sure made some good growing containers. If you could build a hoop house or a green house over them it will give you a longer growing season.

  9. I am for anything to make things easier on the human body. I've realized as I gotten older I've pretty much abused my body physically when I was younger from falling, car wrecks, body building, and life in general. Last growing season my husband, and I built tall raised garden beds. This has made things so much easier on my back, and knees….my next goal a high tunnel with tall raised beds. This will take a while because of the prices of material….for now I can just dream😊

  10. I like the opening because after all the years they've been married Krista still looks at Brad with love.

  11. Oh my, I have never seen Brad in teacher mode. Dude, you are an excellent teacher. You need to be a bible teacher. Amazing job. I’m just shocked to never have seen this gift in your videos…just wow!

  12. We use the bits and pieces of wood left by our wood splitter to fill the bottom third or so of our garden beds. As it decomposes we add compost or soil.

  13. You got a lot of tomatoes there…….Tomatoes are a No-No for diverticulitis!!!!! The seeds…NO GOOD!!

  14. You need a face shield that will protect the front of your neck as well.. Great video Thanks!!

  15. Hi there!
Be careful with the nightshade plants (tomatoes, potatoes, peppers, eggplant) as they are inflammatory. You may want to cut back until the inflammation is taken care of. This measure probably will keep the pain level down. Many blessings. Wish I could come by to help:(!

  16. We were going to build raised beds this year and now lumber prices are through the roof! We ended up doing pallets, which worked pretty well. If you cut the pallet with the two cross beams, you end up with one good side, and one side of scrap wood to fill in the cracks.

But for fill, we did the exact same thing as you. Cow manure from the barn for the bottom layer, and 8 inches of topsoil for the garden plants.

The beds look great. I love the IBCs. It is like a giant potted plant!

  17. I like old fridges or freezer flipped door side up. Could spray paint them with flowers or whatever. Drill some drain holes thru the back. Yay! I was your thousandth like! I feel so special, lol

  18. great job on the project – looks great! I'm in So Cal, and those water bins cost $90 + here… eeeek!

  19. Those totes look wonderful. Great video. I know that when my Son and Daughter in law are able to get us a house, raised beds are what I need to grow plants in for sure. Thanks for the info. God Bless Y'all.
