  1. Congratulations on your fruit trees! There was a large working apple orchard here on our family farm. We still have a few apple trees left to enjoy. I like the spot you chose, apple trees do well in a hilly area 👍🏼

  2. A great pear to plant is a summer pear, they are ripe in July here in the Netherlands. They don't store but having fresh fruit so early in the year is great!

  3. I love the huge dahlias .they are spectacular and you're right the beans do match your shirt. I wish we could get the Biotone starter here. You guys have so much more in your country. Pity we cant get a lot of it here in Australia.

  4. Hi both of you looks like you can plant plenty of fruit trees there , you children are going to have an awesome time as they grow and trees grow , like the look of those beans but then was spoilt with the cuccamelons 🤢🤢 .keep safe Bill and val

  5. What a nice harvest! The dahlia's are beautiful. I'm lucky we don't get frost until the end of December or January, so I'll have pretty dahlias for a couple more months.

  6. Those trees in the background are beautiful this time of year. Great strat on the orchard guys !! Team effort 😊
We still have few cucamelons aswell, we actually froze a bunch and used them for ice cubes.
Have a great rest of the week guys !@
    Cheers J&C 🌱🌱🌱

  7. Hello! A job well done planting your peach and apple trees. A good start to your orchard. I do enjoy following you on your homestead. Thanks for sharing.💙

  8. Just stumbled accross your channel and I am absolutely loving your video! Thank you so much for sharing and best of luck on this exciting orchard! Can't wait to follow along and watch them grow!

  9. I am starting an orchard next spring. It's so exciting to start a new area for planting. I hope your trees do well and are bountiful.

  10. How exciting to start your orchard! I remember starting mine about five years ago with about 15 trees, and now I have more than 60! 😮😁 It's addictive, for sure! Now Im getting so much delicious fruit – a dream fulfilled really. And I'll get to do it all again when I move in a year or two – lol – but I've learned a lot, so I'm looking forward to it. 😊
Great job planting the trees above the graft union. Best price deal is getting them bare root in the winter, although a few trees are best planted from pots – it was definitely worth the money for my pecan trees.
A few tips I learned – 1. Facing the graft union to the northeast is beneficial for sun protection and from wind if you're in a windy area. 2. Surprisingly, fruit trees don't need any fertilizer in the planting hole. They adapt to whatever type of soil you have. Although I did need to plant a few of my peaches on raised mounds because their location didn't drain well enough. They're doing great in their personalized growing space though. ☺️
    3. Mulch is a great help, but not up against the trunk.
I'm sure I'll have new things to learn when I move. New climate and different soil. I like a challenge though. 😎
Your garden looks great as usual, Cara, and I really enjoyed your video!

  11. This is awesome, congrats on the trees. Those honey crisp apples are going to taste amazing!!! What did you end up paying for the apple trees if you don’t mind me asking? Best, David and Rachel from CFS

  12. Hi Cara and Ryan! I have never seen Chinese red noodle beans! Great bean harvest! I'm so happy you guys are starting an orchard. Alex (hubby) and I want to start an orchard at some point, we have a lot of thinking to do with regards to where because we mostly have woods as our land. Oh gosh, our soil is just like yours…rock and clay. I love seeing your dog hanging out with you! ♥♥

  13. Cara trees will produce delicious fruit in your wonderful space. Still harvesting delicious veggies and more applesauce on the way😉how delicious. That kitty was very happy you picked him up 😽thanks for sharing!

  14. sigh… You do NOT want to back fill with anything but clean native soil. Do NOT put any amendments in the hole. Do NOT put compost in the hole. The compost will decompose and then leave air pockets in the root zone. Air in the root zone is the #1 reason for trees to die. Additionally the compost in the hole can lead to root rot. At best it will not thrive. I implore you! Dig them back up and replant with ONLY mineral soil the same type that came out of the hole. THEN put the compost and amendments on the SURFACE as a great mulch. Think about it. That is how nature plants trees. Mulch only on the surface.
I'm having trouble finding the link but UC Davis did work on this years ago and the difference is dramatic. I have been growing trees for 50 plus years. I have successfully planted over 300 trees on my own place and well over thousand for other people. Really. Dig them back us immediately and replant with mineral soil and all amendments only on the surface. be careful to dig them out gently, don't just try to pull them out. Try not to damage any roots as you dig. You may want to use a had trowel on your hands and knees to dig them out. Do it! Be sure to update your vid too so you will be giving good advice for planting trees.
    Love you guys! Keep growing!

  15. You both have such a cheerful and inspiring way about you. It is nice knowing that your viewers will be seeing the growth, harvest and cooking up of what’s been harvested. Thank you for the planting process. Looking forward to the harvest❤

  16. Hi Cara! The orchard looks AMAZING! Love the space you’ve designed for them, lots of room for more fruit trees! You knabbed some bargains too! What a cute little handpicked posie!! That’ll be cute inside in a jar 💐 nice little harvest too! Have a great weekend with your family 💕🌸💐

  17. Oh I wish I could grow peach trees at my house but they just don’t survive my cold zone. I have a fairly large apple orchard of 50 trees so that keeps me pretty busy! Lol

  18. Great selection and range of fruit. Its going to be an exceptional orchard. We are waiting for fruit here – cant wait.

  19. How exciting to have your very own peach/apple orchard. I had seeds sprouting last winter and meant to plant them this summer, but someone thew my germinated seeds away. I wanted to cry.
