  1. Just remember, folks, that if it gets REALLY cold, and the power goes out, (I'm talking winter geddon temps) you can always stick your food outside. I joke but it's a reality when it's in the negative degrees and you want to save your food.

  2. Each year brings with it a strong possibility of bitter cold. I'm planning to layer up, cover up and stay as warm as possible.

  3. Jill, a recipe for you. Brown 1lb. Hamburger drained and rinse fat off. Put in bottom of a 9×13 baking dish. Chop 1 med onion and 1 green pepper chopped sprinkle on top of hamburger. Peel and slice 5-6potatoes and place on top of the onions and peppers. Take 1 can of tomato soup . Boil 1 cup of water and add 2 beef bouillon cubes . Mix this with the to tomato soup and pou over all ingredients. Place in oven and bake checking for the potatoes to be soft. This casserole is delicious. Enjoy and God bless.

  4. We’d never had chicken spaghetti before, so I made some tonight. It’s really good! Thank you for the recipe.

  5. So, a couple of years ago I thought it would be a really fun idea to join an heirloom bean club…and I ended up with this huge basket of a variety of beans. (Huge!) They are different and beautiful, and really tasty.
This seems l8ke a good winter

  6. Wow i cannot believe the amount you are paying for electricity! My bill is usually around 74 bucks per month…up to around $100 p.m. for just couple of months over summer. Goodness! That is just SO OUTRAGEOUS! Can’t you get solar panels?

  7. Thank you for the tip on the Brookshire sale. I bought chicken and roasts for myself and my daughter's family also other odds and ends on sale and saved over $100! It was worth the trip.

  8. I love seeing other people's books – thanks! My favorite place is the library – free books, free knowledge, free movies, free magazines, free services….. great video, love these suggestions.

  9. I,m back….we were traveling in Georgia, and Alabama. Saw the group Alabamas Museum, and Teddy Gentry came in. That was fun….we went ,and saw where Fried Green Tomatoes was filmed, and ate at the Whistlestop Cafe. Saw some beautiful canyons, and things here. We,ve been best friends since second grade. Oh,thats a horrible electric bill. I only have a gas fireplace. Gonna be rough. Love you all

  10. Hi Jill. Really enjoyed this video. It was a good one. Not sure about the hamburger. It is NOT my favorite meat. But we do what we gotta.

Lately I have gotten into freshly milled grains for bread and stuff. It really is good for you and it doesn't take that long to make. Not like you'd think.

I wanted to update my prayer requests. My youngest daughter made it through her back surgery okay, but now she is struggling through recovery. Please keep her mental and physical state in your prayers. Her husband lost his job about a week before her surgery. That is heavy on her mind and slwing down her recovery.

We just found out my oldest is going to have to have a major surgery sometime before Thanksgiving to replace the leads on her gastric stimulator. It is wreaking havoc on her. She just went back to the ER yesterday. She hD a cardiac arrhythmia because of low potassium related to her gastroparasis. That was SCARY.

Please keep thm both in your prayers.

My one diabetic ulcer has healed finally but my feet still aren't doing that great. I need my feet.

Otherwise we are okay. Larry has been putting wicking tubs in at our Joshua property. He is up to almost 60 now. We are trying to get it all ready for Spring or late Fall. Please pray for those.

Glad you are all doing better. I still pray for you all every night.
God bless and keep you, and keep up the good work. Sometimes it is hard to not grow weary in well doing, but that is what we are commanded so we just keep on keeping on.

    Stay strong.

  11. We have canned hamburger & chicken to free up freezer space. I like having them ready to use in soups, casseroles, even in nachos & such. Just season it when reheating. We have really stocked up while shopping sales & clearance meats.

  12. Oh I had those throws up north, they're awesome, plus my cats enjoyed em too. In deep south Georgia now, loving it. God bless yas, just trying to get a handle on the growing season here…gettin there 💚🤗💚

  13. Great advice ! I live in the north eastern part of Ohio, so prepping for cold winters are a norm for us. We do use flannel sheets and pillow cases always in the winter season and electric blankets.
One thing that people may not know is that just a little more WARM (not cold) humidity into the air especially at night is very helpful. Up here in our area, humidifiers attached to furnaces are pretty standard. I use an extra warm humidifier in the bedroom at night because I am an asthmatic.
Humidity in dry winters helps the air stay warmer. Texas winters may be different but dry air is often colder if temps are low.

  14. I love this video! I would appreciate more videos discussing current events, and possible solutions.

  15. Hopefully we get rain today in North Texas, 80% so I see. Question: I'm in an apartment and have actually have never used my fireplace. Trying to learn about using right wood, tools, and safety. I'm scared to have a fire going when asleep. What wood do you use? Maybe would make good video on using wood and fireplace tips? When I took trip to Brookshires, I saw many varieties of wood out front so wasn't sure which one to try. I'm planning on bundling up to keep warm this winter- wool socks, hat, sleeping bag, wool blankets. I have indoor cats- so when I'm at work, I'm thinking have extra cozy spot for them and keep thermostat down more. Maybe turn on heat briefly at night before bed or early morning just to take chill out of air then turn off.

  16. I love hamburger. I grew up up north..north- north, lol. But Texas has been home the longest. The " Tater Tot Hotdish" is ubiquitous in Great Lakes area of our country, and I always loved it as a kid. Ground beef and onions, can cream mushroom soup, can corn or mixed veggies, tater tots baked on top in oven, cheese optional. I love spices too so any kind of Mexican food is awesome as well as stuffed cabbage or peppers..yummy I'm already hungry and sun isn't up yet.

  17. Hi Jill where do you buy your nuts in bulk I don't have Costco or Sam's I have Amazon I'm near canton any tips besides Walmart or brookshires ?

  18. Hi from Tyler, I can’t wait to see the casseroles. I will substitute beef for turkey. I think you are on to something with the casseroles.
