Secret Cottage Garden Tour August 2022

The Secret Cottage Garden was rather neglected this year as I had other gardens to whip into shape. August and September I tried to get it into some order and ready for next year.

The gophers have really been bad this year and have killed several plants and others I have barely saved by digging up and potting. I lost my gorgeous Peaches and Dreams hollyhocks and my White Echinaceas after they ate several of my Oriental Poppies.

So far they are leaving the petunias and the Nicotiana alone. So I am learning what they seem to avoid and maybe I will focus on planting those in this garden next year.

I have been making several changes back here and I will share more very soon so stay tuned!

*I garden in zone 8 but I face the challenge of being surrounded by evergreens (I live in the mountains) that cast a lot of shade. Plus we get very cool nights even in summer. Many lower zones will actually get blooms long before I do.
