Another day, another disaster! This garden looks as if it has never been touched since it was planted and is well out of control. The plant is called New Zealand flax, and it’s blocking access to the garage and is also just a general eyesore, let alone what could be lurking under all of that. This one is actually the front of the job with all the pots and another free cleanup. All up it took me around 3 hours to complete, and I took out around 0.5 trailer of green waste.

FAQ’s:

Q: Where are you located?
A: We are from Hobart, Tasmania, Australia 🦘🦘🦘.

Q: Do you worry about snakes?
A: I have never even seen a snake in over 4 years on the job.

Q: Which equipment do you use?
A: We use mostly STIHL power equipment (battery and petrol) and commercial Honda self-propelled mowers.

Q: How much do the jobs cost?
A: Sorry, I prefer not to talk about costs!

Q: What happened to Nick?
A: Nick was offered a full-time position at his other job as a Political admin!

Q: What happened to Brent?
A: Brent quit at the start of August 2022.

Q: Why don’t you use tarps instead of cans?
A: Tarps are too difficult to move through small spaces and lift into the trailer. The same for wheelbarrows, they are only good for unloading the trailer!

Q: Why are the hot water cylinders outside?
A: I’m not really sure to be honest, maybe something to do with space & maintenance, but either way, it really is poor heat efficiency!

Q: Why are you cutting so close to your employee!
A: I’m not cutting too close to my workers, they are standing too close to where I am working! All of my workers have been told numerous times about standing too close to the tools and about the hazards involved!

Q: Why do your workers do all the lifting and carrying?
A: Basically, they are employed to carry things and I pay them well, to do the job required.

Q: You work so well together, how do you do it?
A: That’s the magic of editing. My workers are basically given instructions on what to do, I just edit it all out, so the videos look seamless!

  1. How often would a job like this need to be done?
    Once a season, or more?

We don’t have plants like this in Canada.

    Hard work.

  2. Found your videos 6 months ago and have watched them all. I enjoy the amazing before and after shots and we have been inspired by them to tackle our own backyard. It's to bad you can't seem to find some steady help, hope the right worker comes along for you!

  3. I love the way you started out your video. I know you’re in Australia but on an island!! That’s amazing. It is very beautiful where you live. I agree with all of your other fans. You are one of a kind. I see the job you have ahead of you and think, “Where the heck would I start with such a mess!” But you just pick a spot and clean as you go. I like the way you have your routine. I’m sorry your sidekick is gone again. This last one did a good job. Once he got the hang of it. Some people aren’t cut out for labor such as yours. And some aren’t as gifted as you. I noticed in a part of your video that you thought there was a critter in the bushes where you were working. Does that mean that you are vulnerable for snakes and such as Tim the lawnmower man and blade mate? They wear guards on their shins to protect from bites I’m assuming. But I don’t see that with you. However, I did notice that you keep yourself very covered. Hat, sunglasses, long sleeve, pants, gloves. You’re so covered up that we don’t see how handsome you really are- but you did show yourself in a video where you cleaned a back yard solo and had your sunglasses and hat off for a bit. And you even spoke to the camera. You should talk more on your videos. Cuz sometimes I don’t understand why you do such things. Like for instance, this video you cut the bushes or shrubs (Dk what they are called) down and you normally cut them super low but I don’t understand why. Where I live in the USA we don’t have trees or bushes/shrubs like that so it’s interesting to watch you work and see what I never get to see. It’s pretty interesting. Don’t get discouraged, I see you’re thinking of selling part of your business. You do an amazing job and help so many people in the process. Don’t give up. This is what you’ve built. Keep up the great work George.

  4. Is that just one season's growth from the NZ Flax plant? If so, WOW. The amount of material it puts out is prodigious.

  5. You 'might' consider a small hand held chain saw for trimming bushes. It would save labor & time. Plus a child's small metal rake to get in between bushes close together. Just a thought. You do good work.

  6. Super robota. Od razy widac fachowa reke. Az milo popatrzec jak pracujesz. Jestes taki dokladny. Brawo George. Zycze Tobie samych radosci i pozdrawiam z Polski 👏👏👍👍🍀🍀😘😘💞💞

  7. That looks so much better!! I prefer the natural look, but there wasn't anything about that I liked. Too messy. You did a beautiful job cleaning all that up.

  8. Those flax bushes are tough. I wonder what was living in there. Nice job. Dramatic change.

  9. Я з України. Мені дуже подобаються ваші відео. Особливо те, що ви одразу прибираєте гілля та сміття. І хоча у нас зараз війна, але ваша робота підіймає настрій і відволікає від жаху, що в нас коїться. Дякую вам!

  10. Small area but big work! Looks so much better now! Cheers George have a nice day 🤗🍻🌟
