Good morning Greg. Your Gardens looking wonderful. I love the idea of moving your berry and fruit trees. I don't know if you have heard of "David the Good" or not, he is one of my most favorite gardeners as are you. Seems like you're creating more of a Grocery Row Garden… that's what David calls them. Dinner and dessert now you just need something for breakfast. Can't wait to see your new pond. idea
Enjoyed this one quite a bit. We're almost 180 degrees apart as far as climate is concerned, however, gardening is basically the same between Nova Scotia and western Arkansas. Been at it basically all my life and now at the 'ripe old age' of 80 yrs.am still learning! Good luck to ya with all the changes.🤠👍
To be honest I just finished watching your video and I really appreciate your philosophy on gardening.
You had a beautiful day for Thanksgiving.
I just finished digging my potatoes yesterday, but while that was good to get done, I still have beets and carrots to do something with, plus the parsnips later on. Always a lot to clean up, too, of course.
You look like you have your work cut out for you with moving plants, hope it all goes well!
For some reason, my peppers turned out great this year too. I had so many I couldn't even give them all away.
Hi, I live in 5b and planted Swiss chard under my tomato plants, which were 8 feet tall. It did amazingly all summer long and was still beautiful when I pulled it last week. It did get attacked alot by some small insect, but there was always enough of it to eat throughout the entire summer.
Are you in Connecticut? Do you provide one on one garden services?…. To teach all the phases at the client's home?
So interesting that you had a great pepper year, and I'm down in Zone 4b, Berlin VT, and also had a wonderful year for peppers. I've never really had a better year in my memory. I'm really enjoying your videos, Greg, and finding a lot to apply to my own garden. Thank you!
👍👍
I can't believe the amount of work you have in front of you. Good luck.
you should set up some cameras out there, be interesting to see what pass's by
So much activity ahead for you. Time for the Maritime Gardening livestream. 😂
LOL, ya know, i really think i enjoy making new beds and rearranging the garden as much as having it growing. There's no pressure , it's kinda like enjoying softball practice more then the games, ya just plan and have fun.
I’d try to move the raspberries in the fall. I had to move mine from a shady location to an optimal spot before dormancy broke (this spring) and I had an abysmal crop.
Aggressive plans for the garden! I'm excited to see the results. I also planted the sweet Italian peppers and we enjoyed them very much. Good luck with the renovation of the garden and God bless.
Hi, could you name the Italian pepper seed you grew this year and were so successful with? I live in NS too and trying to figure out the best pepper to grow. Always enjoy your show.
I didn't bother with peppers this year because of our short season. But, it appears I should have tried.
So ends the saga of the one Honey Crisp branch.
Your trees and bushes will be fine, as long as they are well settled in by the time hard frosts roll in.
What you could do is move half the bushes, like the one in opposite corners. The remaining ones will be easier to net/pick. That way, you aren't risking all your bushes/crop next year.
The thing would be how much space would that give you where the bushes used to be, and what you could plant there until you move the remaining bushes next year?
What about planting shade loving leafy vegetables near the berry bushes instead of moving it all?
"How am I going to do all this? I have no idea!"
I can totally relate! It can look overwhelming 🤪
I thought I'd done all my winter chores (Spring is BUSY!) but no, still plodding on.
Bummer about the grapes. Critters have no respect for us gardeners
I really appreciate you sharing your ideas. I've learned a lot from your channel, and yes , learned a lot from my mistakes too. Thanks for all your help..🙂
Autumn is such a busy season. We all need a couple of extra strong bodies 😂
What do you do between the gardens to keep those nice clear paths?! It looks like sand!
As far as the apple tree.. what about the idea of a food forest?!
My in-laws have concord grapes, every year the turkeys come and eat them all.
Would you consider putting herb gardens under the trees in more of a permaculture orchard/ food forest idea? Garden looks great! Hoping I can carry more into fall in mine next year. Early frost and Fiona knocked a lot out this year.
Great plan Greg, the garden evolves each season as we learn. I also had to remove a number of trees to open the best half of my garden. Replanted with fruit trees and keeping them less than 8ft tall to minimise shade
