Thank you for Clyde's tool. I have loved/used this for 2 years now. I'm SO excited for this season. My seeds are in soil and we'll see how close I am to my families needs. I know the chickens will be happy if I've overestimated. There's also a very real thing called "gardener amnesia" which, according to sources, lets people forget what went wrong the previous year, thereby allowing them to get hopeful and excited about the coming year….which is right where I am! Will be looking forward to your learning on your new property.
If I want to plant determinate and indeterminate tomatoes and potatoes, how do I know what they are when I buy them?
Went over and bought one, been thinking about it and just hadn't done it. The 20% off convinced me.
Good evening Josh and family!
u have a gorgeous rooster. Pretty colors. What kind is he?
That is one handsome rooster!!!
Thanks so much! Just ordered 🙂
I love my Clyde's Planner, and would also suggest that for people either new on a piece of land or finally, after a while, getting around to considering a garden, get something like an inexpensive temp sensor. I've got a couple of them (one out in the barn, another under a shelter further out) and keep records. What AccuWeather tells me is going on in my area isn't always what's happening on my land. btw I'm in Zone 7B, so I'm getting peas into a big nursery pot this week (by St Patrick's day, per tradition) while my amazing Back-to-Eden orchard piles of wood chips promises a harvest some 5-7 years down the road. Patience is a virtue with this type of gardening, but the big/high planters have begun.
A lot of great tips and info. I need to get better at record keeping because quite honestly, I stink at it. Wishing y'all much luck with your garden on the new property!
Thanks for posting this. I just ordered a pair of Clyde's charts: one for me, one for my 14-year-old daughter! We're going to learn together.
Would also love to get chickens, don't know if it'll happen this year but some day soon.
I also havel Cyde's and find it very helpful. Thank you for sharing your garden planning ideas. Hope you have a blessed day.
Good encouragement here for me to get started. I ordered my planner. So excited to get out in the sunshine and dirt. Thanks for everything!
We love using Clyde’s Planner! A very concise tool that every gardener can afford.
What a cool looking greenhouse!!!
For Annuals, your plant hardiness zone won't really help. What is needed is to calculate the Growing Degree Units (AKA Growing degree days) needed. I did a video on that but the only site I have found to get your local average GDUs is for Canada. I have found a site that gives the current year data for the USA but haven't found historical data yet.
just ordered the garden planner. thanks for all that you guys share with us.
County Extension Agent can help with frost dates and varieties that do well in your particular areas also.
We love our winter greens garden. Here in Bluegrass Kentucky (Go Cats), we will not loose the greens until mid January.
Good morning
we have a green house and grow beds. We used the dirt from the garden and we have planted in the year before not lettuce and the variety of lettuce was all so bitter we couldn't eat it.
How can i sweeten the soil? thank you Colorado Springs Co.
Hey Josh! I just ordered 2 garden planner's from Clyde and wanted to thank you for sharing this information and the blessing of the discount too! I'm in zone 6 and in Sand Hollow we can get frosts up to May 15. Believe it or not, back in the early 70s I used to set out my tomatoes in the week of April 23rd which is my birthday and only got hit a couple of times by frost back then. Now we can even get a snow! I've tilled my soil in February but this year it's a no-go! It still dropping snow now and then with snow on the mountains around us. Good luck with your garden!
I ordered a planner, I normally keep a spread sheet with this sort of information, but this seems much more handy
I’m from Arizona and I have two growing seasons spring and fall where I’m at. But we are sell and heading up your way somewhere between north Idaho to northwest Montana. SoI will have to learn how things grow in those areas and very excited to make it happen.
Awesome, thank you! I was just asking a fb gardening group if anyone had a favorite planner. Perfect. SO ready to get in the dirt. MN here and the snow is melting fast!
I'm in the awkward weighing zone of when/what to start. Zone 5b, ground still frozen. Garden needs soil additives (clay) to be productive here on out. Just purchased a hoop house and a deck sized greenhouse, but those aren't set up to go yet. It's a head scratching year here for timing I guess.
Just wanted to let you know, I tried to order Clyde's garden planner today, May 2nd, after watching your video, and the discount is "No longer valid"
VERY disappointed!!! 🙁
the 20% discount didn't work he must have voted for obama
Get a couple. Great thanks. Oh Hoss has a knock off with their name on it. What's the world coming to.
Thanks for the info on the chart ,thanks to Carolyn for the water glossing video,God bless you and your family.
Does Clyde’s chart work when you don’t have frost. I live in Florida and don’t always have a frost each year
