  3. My garlic is due any day so after watching you today Cliff I am ready to get started! I haven’t noticed too many whitefly here in Northamptonshire but there is still loads of blackfly!

  4. Hi Cliff and Diane, interesting video, I agree we have had a lot of white fly. Looking forward to the next video. Take care. x

  5. Cliff, you're right about the whitefly. I can't walk past my brassica's without being engulfed in a snowstorm! Caused by the hot, dry summer maybe, good breeding conditions? Apart from leaving an unsightly black deposit on the plants, do they do any other damage? Presumably they're sap-suckers like aphids? Keep up the good work, the plot's looking fantastic. We had our first frost yesterday, don't think it was sharp enough to do damage to the runner beans, but I've cut off the remaining trusses from the outdoor tom's today and composted the remains. Winter's coming!

  6. I did my blackberries today …they are not as neat as yours 🙂but at least I have had your good advice to point me in the right direction.

  7. Hello Cliff & Diane ~ I think the white fly in the USA are alien drones, spying on my garden and greenhouse. I've also never seen so many of them! I have gone mad and ordered garlic at night when I couldn't sleep…responding to many garlic growers' web site and I've fallen for the "You'll only find it HERE" and the result is 14 pounds of garlic. Yup, pounds! Tonight I'll soak the cloves in liquid kelp and plant them in the morning. And I'm planning on giving it away Halloween night also. Over here we plant with bone & blood meal and kelp but I also have a richly rotted compost, so they'll enjoy a nice bed and a 12" layer of wheat straw because our winters get to -20F below zero here on the farm. Thank you so much for your marvelous videos, you do inspire me to be a better gardener!

  8. Can't plant until November over here in Boston. Don't want it to sprout out above ground during winter leaves get burned back then forget it. Nice video Cliff .

  9. Thank you for making this video about garlic. I have had such bad luck the last two years trying to grow it. I planted in the Fall and only a few grew and they were a poor example of what a bulb of garlic should look like. . Not sure what I did wrong but I have been buying my garlic from the grocery store that I planted and wondered if that was my mistake? Also, have the same problem with my onions. I was so disappointed as I was looking forward to braiding them after I saw your tutorial on how to braid them. Well, I will not give up I will try again. What is the best fertilizer to use on them. Always a joy to watch your videos. You are such an inspiration! Happy Harvest Season and Thanksgiving. All The Best!

  10. Hello Cliff and Dianne ,happy autumn love your technique ,going to be planting some German extra hardy ( hard neck) and ischieum ( soft neck) in a few day . be well ❤🇬🇾🇺🇸

  11. I had to fight whitefly starting in mid summer. It attacked my collards and kale badly. I think I finally got rid of them. Now the white butterfly keep me busy.

  12. Hi Cliff and lovely Diane
Your ground dies look very soft and fluffy for garlic, we have a new one for us this year from Lithuania our friends on plot near us grew them they are from there village and taste wonderful plus good size cloves, I might do a few over winter onions seeing you mentioned it. Keep safe Bill and val

  13. Hi Cliff, normally with garlic I throw away the smaller cloves and the centre ones too, but this season I planted all, and the weedy looking ones where all planted in their own section. I was very surprised to find I could tell no difference between the best and the weedy cloves at harvest, all where of the same size and all where in good condition, I will be doing the same again from now on…Steve…🙂
