Solar outdoor lighting is a very popular alternative to professional-grade LED lights. HOWEVER- these solar lights all too often fall drastically short of the ‘landscape lighting’ effect a homeowner is looking for! Watch the video for my explanation of why you SHOULDN’T purchase solar lights.

Getting traditional power wired lights install is only the beginning cost. What about the operational cost down the road. Those heavy watts will slam your power bill. No thanks, I’m going solar powered.
Lmao look at all these butthurt solar light fanboys. Solar lights have too much disadvantages:
1. They usually are cheaply built and break easily
2. They generally are not very bright
3. More maintenance than what you get with 12 volt lighting
4. More expensive to have considering that you have to pay for new batteries every year whereas you could pay 10 dollars for LED bulbs that will last
5. I can never exclude the fact that solar lights don’t charge in cloudy days. Even if they charged, they won’t run for long.
And if you dont want 12 volt lights to be too bright, you can always get low wattage bulbs. And think about it, do you really want to spend money replacing batteries or lamps every year and having to clean dirty solar panels or do you want to spend your money and do the hard work at once? I would go with doing hard work and spending money at once.
In a few months, this video will be 2 years old…solar lights have come a long way. Shocked by how bright these are and how long they last. https://www.amazon.com/Landscape-Spotlights-LiBlins-Landscaping-Waterproof/dp/B08LQFTHMK/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8
I prefer solar because landscape lighting wattage adds up which = infinitely more money to run.
You guys he is here to SELL his business… of course he doesn’t want u to buy solar power lol .
No option for wired what are the best solar
I have solar lights and they work well. Looks like you are trying to push your lights
Cheap solar lighting just one more thing that ends up in the landfill.
You don't always want a blaring light in your undergrowth. 🤣 I agree they don't last though – by the way I had to smile at your advert at the end.
Solar lights is better than wired landscape lights because it saved me alot my electricity bills. I used professional lighting and my bills were more than $800-$1,000 paid in one month which are more than my savings, not enough to feed my families or go to see doctor. Solar lights aren't cheap as you think. They're super expensive, for a low income.
Medium class and rich people think landscaping lights are better because they can afford. Some low income can't afford it. Ijs..
This is the most biased video I've ever watched.
I'm surprised at how reserved this guy was with his opinions on these cheap lights. Solar lights always make a home look worse than having nothing. The light temperature is often too blue, they don't illuminate uniformly from light-to-light. They don't turn on or off at the same time. They look cheap. They can't be automated. And because they are so cheap, homeowners buy them in bulk and usually add too many. They are disposable junk that always looks amateurish. A low voltage wired system can be done inexpensively as a DIY, and be done in a way that looks professional.
This was a GREAT review. What I got out of it is exactly what i was thinking all along anyway … and that is that solar lights SUCK big time. They are a WASTE of money … period.
good video Adam. what type of led bulb should I buy for down light?
This video was put out by the author to EDUCATE people so they DON'T WASTE their money at Home Depot, etc. THIS I TOTALLY AGREE …. And, .. AK Lighting author was being very polite to those here in the comments section. Basically the bottom line is this .."to EACH their Own" … Here is MY take on this topic: Using Solar lights along a landscape pathway is basically just a touch better than purchasing a bag of glow-in-the-dark PING PONG balls at the DOLLAR STORE and tossing them every couple of feet. THERE … I said it. ONE THING IS VERY CERTAIN: PERSONALLY, I WILL NEVER, EVER PURCHASE SOLAR LIGHTS IN MY LIFETIME. I have already been burned by crappy solar product purchases. But to those that LIKE solar lights: "Keep on believing that your solar lights are wonderful … B'hahahahaha"
So much negative comments on here LOL. He’s simply telling the truth between solar and 12 volt. You guys stop being so butt hurt about your solar lights that don’t even light up the same time with the others 😂 Lmao.
Solar lights have gotten significantly better in just the last couple of years. While yes a single electric light is going to yield off more light than one solar light. On the flip side of the coin with a little work you can get pretty close to regular lightening. You just need more solar lights overall in most cases a lot more. During a power outage they can provide much needed light.. On the tree light if you were to add 5 more spot lights. You would start to get close. The yard lights they have now are far brighter looking. I was able to light up my entire backyard by placing the solar lights only a couple of inches apart all around the yard. It required a ton of them but it was set it and forget it. They have been running for 2 years now with no problem. This would have been a major project going electrical.
I have cheap solar lights from China for my garden they are the PIR type ,they are not water proof and come with the small 300mA batteries ,so take out the small batteries and put in 2500 mA ones then spray the batteries with some silicon oil & then put a run of silicone around the battery panel ,now you have a light that will last for a long time . /UK
I've no option as far as electric lights are concerned, so my cheap solar lights are doing me just fine
Wired lighting systems are more expensive in the first place and you also have to pay for the power that solar lights produce automatically.
Thank you for your information about solar lighting.
So technology is squeezing your business and you’re doing videos to discredit the solar option. Not everyone needs what you provide
Solar works perfectly. No reason to pay you for your professional lights.
It rained today and my light didn’t turn on at night… is this normal??
Totally skewed photography’s the end. The solar light to the far right was great for paths. And the solar light in the middle with the tree was awesome. SAVE THE EARTH 🌏
Solar is the best
We have some solar path lights from Costco in our front yard which look nice when they work. They problem for us is in the winter, our front yard is shaded all day so the solar lights don’t get much light. They are very I consistent throughout the year. We thought about solar for the back yard but that has even more shade due to a high block wall between us and the neighbor behind. So, we definitely need the better lighting system. Just starting my research now. 🙂
I'm looking into some type of lighting for my grandmother her street light has went out and it's dark out ,I'm looking to brighten it up without it making her light bill go up
I have a 400ft driveway I had a pro give an estimate of over $4,000 to put in some lights I later seen almost the same style at homedepot in solar for $49 ( Hampton bay)I bought 2 packs and yes it not as bright as the pros demo but still adequate for the driveway and walking I would buy some brighter lights or a small wired unit for the path leading to the porch in the near future. But as of 3yrs the solar has been great even in the snow.
If it has a wire you're going to pay for it
Man I've been in business since 98…one thing I know..row row row DOWN THE STREAM…this guy's rowing up.the stream ..
Why he's focused on price ?? Calling his products expensive..dude sell the quality
UNBIASED OPINION 😅
what is the price on your solar lights ?
I love my solar powered lights… I just got mine from Walmart. Decently made for the price. Yes, they can become quite dim, if it’s cloudy or if I don’t move the lights into the sun during the day. But my backyard is so small that the dim glowy lights are quite beautiful.
However, your professional lights are stunning!
As you said though, the bigger lights are definitely worth the bang for their buck if you’re going solar
Lights should never be directed upwards. They are a nuisance and contributes to light pollution.
No comparison for me, wired is reliable, looks so much better, & great for security which is half the reason I have landscape lighting. Solar are good for moving around, so I do use those too in areas too far from the transformer that aren't critical for security.
Must be frustrating for losing all the businesses to simple technology improvements.
What happens when you lose electricity in your home? Solar lights will shine bright while the other lights won't shine at all.
Nice shirt. Where did you buy it?
You are definitely not fully aware of all the products out there. I have some very powerful solar lighting at my home
what cheaper options lol
I have that exact same square solar light that you have! I bought it from Lowe's!
Another problem with these solar lights is that you can see the light itself when the idea is to see the subject you're illuminating.
Thank you for your insight, it was very informative 👍🏾
Really? I spent $40 on walkway lighting from ALDI and they have lasted me 3 years.. but then again you know everything because your hawking your own crap.. know what I kinda think this video is a SCAM.. actually I think you are violating YouTube’s tos and I think the fcc and FTC need to start investigating people like you for deceptive practices… you have no clue what you are talking about, you only make videos to earn a commission, and that’s kinda illegal when you don’t say it’s a paid partnership where you influence people to purchase your product, and bash the competition
Just do what I do. I use candles.
Solar lights – if the yard permits – should be the only option – why on earth would anyone want to run wires is beyond me – solar lights are getting better – just imagine a transformer
120 w is like $80companies like Hampton bay could have found out a way to hold these low voltage transformers cheap – but they wanted short term profits – well here we are – solar will win the game eventually50 ft copper wire is $41 🙂 so the companies called this on their own 🙂
