Welcome to our channel! This Log Cabin Project is a dream that we have had for several years that we finally decided to make a reality. Our goal is to build a tiny log cabin from scratch using as much material from our land as possible. We are building it entirely using hand tools (no chainsaw!). This cabin will function fully off-grid and will be only accessible by foot. Subscribe to follow our journey!

In this episode, we finish the roof, putting an end to the last two months of work we’ve put on to get it done. In preparation for winter, we make a list of all the things we need to get done before snow and cold weather comes around. We get started on one of those task right away by cutting a massive dead tree that was threatening to fall on the cabin at any given moment.

We are learning a lot as we are doing (as always), so don’t hesitate if you have any questions, it will be a pleasure to share tips and tricks, if possible.

  1. The trees are beautiful and so is the cabin with a gorgeous roof. Great job guys. Also I made a lot of mistakes with my gardening this year. Its ok, will do different next year.

  2. That roof is looking great! Those new tin snips made short work of those long cuts; my hands were feeling cramped just watching! Good choice on the tree removal. That one could have really caused some damage!

  3. As with all the Cabin work, extremely well done, together you guy's kicked it in the Roof or another place butt this isn't the place to get silly with verbal commentary…Love it's getting closed in and ready for that live in able Hootch!!

  4. I watch all your videos, I enjoy your teamwork and progress, your attention to detail and….you already have your roof protected!!! That is fantastic.

    Congratulations.

I often keep silent, without writing or commenting, although I thank you for sharing this precious experience from Spain.

  5. Je pense que les profilés de rive ont été mal montés. Ils auraient dû être positionnés sur les tôles et non en dessous. L'eau de pluie va pénétrer par capillarité !

  6. I can't understand why you guys haven't got a lot more subs , I look forward to watching you both each week, this cabin is just amazing considering you've only used hand tools , Hats off to you both, you've worked so hard on this , and it's looking great , love from little old me in the UK

  7. The cabin is really coming along, looks good. Stick to your plan, be flexible & you'll get there before you know it…

  8. Still.. not bad for a first year garden. Now you've learned how to proceed. You two are so ingenious. I'm waiting to see how you're going to get your wood stove a mile through the woods! Should be very entertaining.

  9. You two are doing an amazing job on your cabin. Looking forward to your next video 🇨🇦👍

  10. You both are amazing at what you are doing. You should feel very proud of what you have done 🤗. It is so awesome you are close to water and the trees are beautiful ❤️.

  12. i dont envy you the forearm pump having to cut all that sheeting by hand with those snips lol.. that is brutal hehehe.. congrats on getting the roof on and also for taking some time out and reflecting on your garden and how to move forward. until next time.. be safe and take care out there. For the chinking…. get MOSS .. natures best chinking material. easy to find, easy to stuff into gaps and no chemicals or man made materials

  13. Roof looks Outstanding. 2 months is plenty of time for you hardworking people. Amazing Job.

  15. Je sais pas où vous êtes mais vous me donnez un tableau de l’Automne si beau et un * noyau * au milieu ,tellement magnifique !

  16. Nick the last time I used a brace and bit was 1967 and the beginning of my toolbox and start of my carpentry and joinery apprenticeship.
Good job mate and Maela too.

  17. I have fallen in love with your channel, but I’m not seeing commercials… I want you guys to get something out of the deal.

  18. The beautiful green roof really brings out the structural integrity of the cabin, looks great.
I made the same mistake with growing my siblings from my raised bed Garden‘s as you too, and hoping to get to crops in, spring and fall, I started my seedlings indoors as you did but I started mine in February, make it a large cart to bring them in and out of the house on days with no frost was quite the challenge come. My sugar snap peas turned out to be quite disappointing. But the fall planting has come out OK, still getting tomatoes and onions. I’m down here in East Tennessee USA.
Thank you for this very nice video. Looking forward to the next.

  19. Thanks for sharing 🙂 An important thing for garden is to keep your vegetable in contact with the ground letting worms helping you. They dig several meter of gallery each making natural water draining. Put a mesh on the ground to avoid mole, make your bins with 4 independent sides to be able to open it, make it easier to repair and easier to renew the soil in the bins.

  20. Bravo to you two. I watched from the very beginning and honestly never thought this would ever get built. I was thinking you two bit off more than you could chew with such a project. But you proved me wrong with a beautiful cabin. Unbelievable amount of hard work, but you both did it… Thumbs Up!

  21. What an amazing feeling to know that the roof is done. It's your roof, but I still feel so satisfied. Great job, you two. You two are incredible.

  22. It must be so heart warming for you both now as you walk up through the path and to the cabin, your home. Fully roofed and set against the glorious autumn leaves❤ loved seeing your garden and future plans to expand.

  23. Que alegria pelo telhado pronto 😊 até o próximo vídeo. Um abraço Nick e Maela ❤️❤️

  24. Awsome job guys. Please do a lot more with your stumps before one of you gets impaled

  25. I so feel your frustration with losing the only bit on hand, kudos to Maela for finding it too. My antique brace is my go-to tool for fastening fence rails into fence posts. Never runs out of batteries and way more torque.😎. Really looking forward to all your vlogs, thanks for taking the time.

  26. Tre-Magnifique …!
I would wonder why your list didn't include sealing those logs with some clear stain or what have you before long winter ahead?
And big thank you again for sharing another wonderful ❤️ video you guys🤙

  27. those roof screws go on the ribs not the channel, the gaskets brake down with time, on the water don't run on the rib, like it does on the low channel, just saying, you might want to research it,
