Thank you! Please do more instructional videos.👍
I’ve tried container gardening. Nothing grew. And I used good soil and fertilizer. Still nothing. So I gave up. My container potatoes were no bigger than grapes after growing all summer.
We had a sweet potato left over on our counter from last fall(store bought) and by a window. It sprouted and we left it alone a few months. We finally planted in ground last month and is doing great!
I have a d d but it seems like you were drilling holes in that 40 gal for hours 😆 excellent and practical video thanks!
I wish it didn't freeze here…
Thank you Kris!!
Again a great idea, timely and practical. I have used large plastic pots obtained from landscape companies. Trees often are delivered to planting sites in large containers and available for free.
useless, not everyone has a balcony
Thanks for thinking of those of us with limited space. Great video!
Take care checking what plastic you use, some plastic leaks poisons and you don't want that in your food. Also re-using terrarium material might cause some problems with salmonella, reptiles are known to carry it. One of the reasons the meat from reptiles needs to be propper prepared. All that being said it's always a good idea to secure some stable foodproduction and a great skill to have
SO helpful, Kris. Thank you!
Cement mixing tubs at Home Depot work great for container. I’ve been doing it for years
NICE
I use all my kids' diaper boxes to plant right next to the house. It's in a place where nobody else can see. So yeah. I think I have seven potato plants going right now but now it's getting cold in Illinois So I can't use that cardboard idea inside because after a while it does get soggy. I'm going to try to plant one more batch of seven plants again, but layering.
Remember that the greens are not only edible but nutritious 😉
Non draining ? why not a drain pan with a stand in it or with out most plants develop stronger roots when you water deep or let the water seep up into the pot.
Im confused about the empty bottles with lids? So basically you drill holes in them, burry them in the dirt? What's the purpose of that? Do those bottles need water in them before burying them? Need some clarification please
Kris, this video answered all of the questions I had about growing sweet potatoes. Thank you!
Any chance for a depression garden? Low maintenance foods we can grow when depressed or busy at work?
Gardening is all about trial and error. I have been trying to grow Russet and Yukon Gold Potatoes but have low yields in my outside garden. The winter zucchini are doing good though. I will keep trying
Excellent video.
If while growing sweet potatoes you get blossoms be sure to pinch them off to keep energy focused on tubers. But, don't trim the vines… bigger vines = bigger tubers.
Why not just get a plastic 55 gallon drum and cut it down the middle then you have two
I have seen different information about the type of container you use and what is could leach into the soil and into the food. Should you use food grade plastic for the containers?
Thank you Chris God bless
Great video! I'm really loving this renewed focus on actionable information to help establish a sustainable lifestyle, as well as preparing for emergencies. Thank you for the great content.
Great Video! So proud of you for this and your continual pursuit of rational reasonable preparation for all the various kinds of chaos in life. Bravo!! Bravo!!
I tried growing sweet potatoes in two huge pots this year. But a groundhog keeps coming by and eating EVERY LEAF off of both plants every week or so !!
I tried several mammal repellants including fox urine, but the groundhog has ignored them!
I like the gardening ones. Look into jute leaves.. surprising nutritional power house.
PLEASE, DO NOT grow vegetables in trash bags. They are not food safe and many brands contain pesticides. DO NOT plant vegetables in blue Lowes buckets. Only the white ones are food safe. These containers are fine for flowers but not anything you plan on consuming.
Thank you Chris for doing this video and to all the gardeners for their added suggestions.
this is some amazing info . grow a Ton of food with basically trash in your apartment . No excuses for starving. i might suggest one of those cheap dolly rollers to set it on , once the water is in It Is Heavy !
This is super helpful and practical, much appreciated!!!!
Now this is something that brings hope.
Other prepper channels brings me anxiety for watching days in a row.
I have a dedicated garden her at my home in Covina we have the best soil in the World since Covina was the World's producers of orange trees before housing was built and slowly moved trees to Florida! Anything grows in my yard!
You should teach Kratky method.
