How to build a garden Japanese tea house. I am making it for my young daughter who has just gone through a major medical operation. I promised I would make her an outside play area once she had recovered. Well she has and she’s looking forward to it when its finished. I have in mind a timeline of 12 months to complete it. However, as everyone knows in the UK, the weather has been great over the Easter period and I have made lots of progress. So here is my attempt at making a Japanese tea house.
Although these next few video’s are more about carpentry (or go to show my lack of skill in the trade!) it still revolves around water gardens. Specifically those with Koi
It’s the first time I have undertaken such a task, therefore I am learning on the job. I hope not to make too many mistakes along the way. Anyway, I hope the log of my attempt helps to show that DIY can save lots of money and be a route to enjoyment and getting outside to enjoy the Sun. DIY is also a great way to learn the basics of new skills.
One last thing, I do apologise for the poor audio at times. I film with an Ipad and the sound quality is hit and miss at times.
Hope you enjoy.

Looks great! However, do not understand why the floor is nailed covered? The floor is covered with tattami mats, isn't it? If Japanese tradition is respected
This rules! I just got a nice bit of land and I'm planning on making something extremely similar, your video series is a huge help for wrapping my head around how to conceptualize each part of the process, great stuff!
I want to do this but with a heating system underneath the house (I live in a Nordic country). I read tha the traditional heating system used in Japan and Korea works with fire and stones that go under the house but not feeling particularly confident about doing it myself since if wrong could burn down the house…
