I learned so much about gardening this year and figured I would share it with all of you. I tried some new things that worked out really well, and some others that didn’t. Grab a glass of water and hangout in my backyard with me while we harvest some food and have some fun.

Let me know in the comments, do you have any helpful gardening tips?
What did you think of my garden?

  1. pause at 13:29… whats with that tiny little bench in the background under the tree?? hahaha bench for a squirrel to have lunch on I bet. lol

  2. Do you knows "oyas"? Are buried terracotta jars which slowly diffuse water to your plants.
About basil, a good soil for vegetables, direct sun if not too strong and constant water. Keep the small and big leaves, use the medium ones.
Do you find some ancient/peasant seeds? They are stronger than what we buy in most stores

  3. Awesome garden mate. A tip with the mulch is to water the garden bed before you put in down and after. Pea straw is the most common form of mulch here in NZ. Also peas and beans will keep producing for a while if you continuously pick them. And all mints can be invasive so pays to plant them in their own containers. 🌻

  4. Rosemary has so many great uses! It's incredible in home baked bread if you're into that, but it's also nice in salad dressings etc. We also lost all our broccoli plants to the caterpillars this year… Little scumbags. Cheers for the video!

  5. Amazing! The first bed has really flourished. Definitely love the idea of the off ground herb box! Pretty neat! You shared allot of great tips as usual! Love you guys content! Keep up the great work! Sharing and learning together! Bless πŸ’ͺπŸ™ŒπŸΎ

  6. I learned I know nothing of gardening. I sprouted everything from seeds and then they all died within two months πŸ˜‚πŸ’€ RIP my garden

  7. So funny about diddling the tomato flowers! Year sago (before going WFPB) I learned how to make pirogies with a friend's grandmother. She used the term diddling to describe how to seal the edge of the pirogies after they were filled. It's a multi-purpose word!

  8. Derek, you gotta buy the black oil sunflower seeds from the store for the birds. No waste at all and every bird loves them.Walmart sells big bags for about 20$.Love your videos,by the way.Thank you so much.I think peas will make a comeback in the fall and give you a mini harvest if they survive the heat.Im an amateur gardener too,we are all learning.

  9. I love it, everything! The trampoline looks like so much fun. I dabble in gardening. I love the tip about tickling your tomato blossoms. I’m 69 and became a vegan just a little over a year ago. I feel great, lost a lot of weight, I’m diabetic. I have almost reversed my diabetes. Great job. I think you and your girlfriend are a great couple.

  10. Plant basil around the tomato plants. They attract beneficial insects that like to eat some of the invasive bugs known to mess with your tomato plants.

  11. Thinning out your beautiful little sprouts can be weird at first cause it feels like you're undoing your hard work. Maybe think of it as 'unlocking your veggies potential' and if you dont want to waste the sprouts you're taking out. You could probaly just give them a rinse and throw them on a salad! I didnt research that, but sounds legit. Lol! πŸ˜†

  12. Also on the island, so this was really helpful. Peppers did great for us one year, not the next. Ditto for tomatoes. But zucchini is pretty easy to grow…… You guys are fun to watch!

  13. This is really educational. I've been trying to find for YouTube vid similar to yours that informs everything in this video! πŸ™Œ πŸ‘Your video is like the content of Dr. Ethan. His demonstrations are educational and I really learned a lot for midterms. He is an educational Doctor in Nottingham.

Go check out his page out and give Doctor Ethan a subscribe! πŸ‘‰ #DrEthanMedicine

  14. Oooo, really enjoyed this video especially learning about edible marigolds for pest control .
    Thanks eh πŸ₯°πŸ₯°πŸ₯°
