Looking fantastic, I'm really looking forward to see how this season goes. Have you considered trying the Japanese espalier method on an in ground fig, and covering it up during the winter?
Looking good gives me some ideas. Thanks.
Caprifigs?? Man, you're really willing to try everything. Got any Feijoa? You could probably make that work (they're maybe 7B hardy, probably more if you put them in a warm spot).
For espalier, I think you're really going to have to prune specifically to get the cordons. If you let the trees grow too much vertically, they won't get that growth early into the lower branches. Yeah, you might delay fruiting for a season by pruning fairly aggressively, but if you're really wanting the structure (the whole reason to espalier), prioritize the structure. Much easier on a younger tree.
So you're not growing the common fig in the greenhouse? why do you wanna grow parasite infested figs
I'm fascinated by the background noise to your video Ross, is that some kind of machinery running or is it an actual woodpecker ?
Ross, my wife heard this video and said she grew Egyptian Walking Onions, …..but they bolted….đ„

Philadelphia freedom to me knee high to a man!
It will survive i kept a potted chicago hardy fig in my greenhouse all summer and im in zone 7. Just make sure to use a good fan, open the doors, and water plenty!
What varieties of pawpaw are you growing? Would love to hear your opinion on the fruit, my trees might also bear for the first time this year. You can tell what is a flower bud and what is a leaf bud on pawpaws very early as the flower buds are round and on the sides of a branch and the leaf buds are pointed.
Hello Ross, I have 3 figs outside in my garden, they survive for 2 years with winter protection, how must be pruned in the frosty climate?, I live in Romania Zone 7a
-17.8°C to -15°C.
What I should do with them now in the spring? What is the first step when they starts to grow?
Thanks, Greetings from Romania.
