Filmed as part of the Localising Food Project | www.localisingfood.com

Canadian native Marie Manning lives in Katikati now, but she’s brought a little bit of her homeland’s indigenous culture with her and now boasts a beautiful bounty of produce in her tiny home garden. At just thirty square metres and only four months old at the time of filming, Marie’s wee garden is already feeding the neighbours and bringing joy to everyone who visits her.

  1. Importing material from outside is not the way to grow soil. The only way to grow soil is to allow grass and weeds to grow wildly, then press them down or cut them down. This way you get carbon and nitrogen for free. Planting trees and shrubs with fallen leaves every year will also add to your soil.

  2. such a lovely inspiring woman, you ve got the truly sense of life, thanks for sharing! stay healty and active🙏💕

  3. aahh, that was such a sweet, informative and valuable video. Thanks for sharing your ideas and passion, Marie!

  4. We can't do without God, who created all of these wonderful things through intelligent design. We can't do without Him who holds all things together.. Gardening is wonderful, but what about the fact that all of this creation came from a Creator, and this Creator is not impressed without our good works, because He is SO HOLY and SO OUT OF THIS WORLD, that we are as dirt to Him. And for some reason, He has chosen some to love and bestow grace and mercy upon. Those who do believe this, are chosen of God and have passed from spiritual death unto spiritual life. The Lord says "And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.” Eternal life is knowing God. Do you know God? Seek Him if you can.

  5. My garden just as big as yours, but it still messed up. I only started gardening last year and still haven't managed my compost yet. Yours give me inspiration of what to do. Thank you!

  6. Your garden is beautiful and so are you so you deserved the help you've been given. I'm so pleased for you and wish you good health to enjoy your little paradise. I'm going to try to make some supports and structures for my garden with my brother William's help as it gets very windy here in my part of Northern Ireland at times. I love to grow flowers as well as food and enjoy mixing them up. We have a lot of lovely little garden birds and the birdsong is so worth sitting down to enjoy. Happy gardening and God bless.

  7. It is wonderful to watch your beautiful small kitchen garden, i really liked and copied your composting bins, your veg tables are healthy and fresh like smilling plants. Mulching is wonderfully done. Keep it up, is that all organic or do you use fertilizers and pesticides
