A quick harvest of some taro roots we are growing in our Zone 7a Northern Virginia garden. Colocasia esculenta is a tropical plant grown primarily for its edible corms, a root vegetable most commonly known as taro, among many other names such as gabi (Tagalog), ube (Tagalog), aba ( Ilocos Region), natong/apay (Bicol Region), ede (Igbo), kókò|lámbó (Yoruba), kontomire (Akan), jimbi (Swahili) and many more.

  1. That's a good harvest. How long did it grow for. I planted taro it all grew beautifully but nothing to harvest. Unfortunate for the plant it died in winter. I should have uprooted the corms.
