How to Grow Strawberry ‘Temptation’ From Seed, Growing Strawberries, Vegetable Gardening

If you are wondering why I bothered to grow Strawberries from seed then you are probably not along, and indeed normally I wouldn’t bother either. However, this is Strawberry ‘Temptation’.
For anyone who hasn’t come across this variety before it is of medium size and has a sweet taste like the variety ‘Sweetheart’.
Unlike many variety’s, ‘Temptation’ is classed as a perpetual variety so it fruits over a long time period. The variety also doesn’t produce runners, and is also an expensive plant to purchase, hence the necessity to grow it from seed.

I sowed the seeds in March, directly onto damp compost in a seed tray. Please see the link below for when I initially sowed the seed in March.

The tray was placed into a heated propagator until germination occurred, which took about a week.
Once the seedlings were about an inch (3cm) high they were pricked out and potted up into shallow 9cm size pots.
Now the plants are established and the Strawberry plant roots have totally filled the 9cm pots I am now potting up the plants into their final sized 10.5cm pots.
Once the plants have grown a bit more, and we are into Autumn, I will plant out the Strawberries into their permanent home, hopefully to get a good crop next year.
