This gardening in Canada video is a review on the Garden Soxx. This may be the new way of gardening and in a few respects could result in higher garden yields. This is a no till, no container garden method that will reduce weeds and workn in the garden. The only way to truly review Garden Soxx is by first off looking at what makes this product different from ground beds and container gardens. Then we will look at what to put inside the soxx for the best results and the overall quality of the Garden Soxx themselves.

PLEASE SUBSCRIBE if you are wanting to know more on gardening in Canada & gardening in Colder Climates in general. My methods apply to the USDA Plant Hardiness Zone 1 – Zone 6. As a soil scientist I always try to incorporate science into my videos. Soil science can be over complicated so allow me to guide you.

Leave a comment and let me know where your are gardening. And let me know what videos you would like to see in the future!

Ashley is an agronomist who has had a passion for plants since she was a small child. In the long summers as a child, she would garden alongside her grandmother and it was then that she realized her love for greenery. With years of great studying, Ashley had begun her post-secondary education at the University of Saskatchewan.
At first, her second love, animals, was the career path she chose but while doing her undergrad she realized that her education would take her elsewhere. And with that, four years later she graduated from the University of Saskatchewan with a bachelor’s degree in science and a major in Soil Science.
Some of Ashley’s interests are YouTube, in which she posts informative videos about plants and gardening. The focus of Ashley’s YouTube channel is to bring science to gardening in a way that is informative but also helpful to others learning to garden. She also talks about the importance of having your own garden and the joys of gardening indoors. Ashley continues to study plants in her free time and hopes to expand her YouTube channel as well as her reach to up and coming gardeners.

  1. I'll admit I first thought it was kind of weird but you easily disguise them with container ornamentals if you wanted to. Zero weeding seems pretty great and built-in watering, also that you could set this up in as large or small an area as you want. Totally going to look into this further. Thank you, Ashley and so sorry you are having lasting effects from that accident. Hope you are back to 100% soon.

  2. I absolutely loved that documentary, but cannot for the life of me recall seeing the soxx.. I’m so impressed with the entire concept and am already running a list of potential applications for it in my yard. I’m actually going to watch the doc again this weekend and probably look into placing an order. Thank you for featuring so many amazing Canadian products and companies. I’ve loved everything I’ve tried from your suggestions so far. Take it easy and get well soon!

  3. This is wild!!! Even for you. What a good idea! Much better than planting in cut open plastic bags. Take care of that back.

  4. Amazing feature stuff this garden socks sack bed glad to know how useful it is for urban garden, hope your injury recover well. Love ur videos, take care💚🙏

  5. You are a beautiful woman and it is so nice to see a female presenter without giant spidery fake eye lashes.

  6. I'm sorry to hear about your accident! I hope you have a full and complete recovery.

  7. 💕 Awesome idea. Your looking great and Thanks for still creating videos. Love your channel 💗

  8. This is so much better than air pots. Can the irrigation channel be run through the dirt to reduce evaporation?

On a related side note, I managed to grow a whole bunch of Al-Jay in most of my outdoor pots this summer. I don't believe this type of "container" would allow much of that to happen since the algae were growing in the space between the inside of clear pots and the dirt. Is it worth it to give up all the benefits of algae for aeration?

    Great content, Ashley. Thanks.

  9. What a great idea – kind of like straw bale gardening without the mess! Sorry to hear about the accident – hope everything resolves great for you.

  10. Try and find out what the Gardensoxx is made of, how long it lasts, and if there is a warranty. Note how many videos of this product have their comments turned off. How long do they last? There's a video of them changing out a large greenhouse of GardenSoxx, but nothing about how many years it lasted before the change was necessary – comments are off, their website is quiet. Any failures when using them to outline a pond or use them as erosion control or how they degrade?!! Any tests done on the product leaching into the plants you eat? Need MORE info before I get excited. Oct 13, 2021 Hailing from mid-America.

  11. There was a time that organic was considered conventional. My mother didn't trust organic milk. I told her, "Mom, you grew up drinking organic milk… you called it 'milk.' "

(I'm not bashing non-organic in fact I said nothing about it.. Goal was to make ppl chuckle.)

  12. My husband picks up the plastic containers from construction sites after they plant in new areas. For anyone able to grab from similar situations

  13. How qould I make my veggie garden slightly more acidic? Im in Ontario and my soil seems to be hovering just below an 8ph, or should i even try? Im growing tomatoes, yellow beans carrots, lettuce, cucumbers, and peppers.

  14. I think the correct way to place the tape is with the blue line up. The SOXX pictures show it this way ànd Laura from Garden Answer also recommends the tape placed with emitter hole up. Apparently this reduces blockages. Thx for the intro to a new product.

  15. Behold the Christian Race

Cush (Greek: Ethiopia), means sun-burnt face
Phoenicians described by the Greeks, as fair-haired, fair-skinned people
Persia means Lord of the Aryans now renamed IRAN
    Zimbabwe once known as Rhodesia
    Chicongo once known as Chicago

12 Tribes passed through the Caucasus Mountains
    (i)ssac's Sons / Saxons / Anglo-Saxons / Europe / Australia / New Zealand / North America / Christian First World / "We the People"

38 For as in those days before the flood,

they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage,

until the day when Noah entered the ark, 39 and they were unaware until the flood came and swept them all away,

so will be the coming of the Son of Man.

  16. Never buy containers. Large plastic drink bottles are great for herbs. Cardboard boxes are great for anything. Just make sure they’re not stained or sprayed with chemicals. Fill the box half way with grass clippings. I let mine dry out before using them. For the rest of the box I use potting or raised bed mix with some dirt and compost. Fertilize and you can grow what you want. Scrap lumber makes great garden boxes. No treated lumber for food plants. Free food grade buckets from bakeries and restaurants are great for peppers and small tomatoes. I’ve grown cucumbers and beefsteak tomatoes in them as well.
Lowes and Home Depo are always tossing seedling containers out. Grab the large ones that tree seedling come in. They’re great for micro toms, tiny tims and mini bells.

  17. I found that my pots would get dry pockets when use of drip system. I had better results with heavy top watering and dry back. pull the container off and give your soil a look and see all the dry pockets.

  18. Interesting product. How should we manage the soil when growing season is over?
