This video is in answer to a question sent in by DMC on Twitter. If you don’t have enough money or room for a big greenhouse, see why a cheap, Mini Greenhouse may be just the thing for sowing seedlings and protecting Sweet Peas and cuttings over Winter.

  1. They are a great starting point, I had one before I got my second hand Greenhouse. something to way it down at the bottom, and a new cover every few years.

  2. Hi. Yes the plastic does fail after a year or two. I store mine outside over winter. I make a new covering with sheet plastic from the building supply store. It's easier to do it two parts. I do the roof separate from the sides. I cut a hole near the top in the plastic so bees can escape as they always get trapped inside. Plus the hole is a good vent for excess heat. It's not pretty but it works.

  3. This was an absolute joy to watch 😍.. Had to restart the heart there once or twice..
    Also.. informative : D

  4. I asked for one of these for Xmas. Don't have space for anything bigger. I'm still to put it up and I'm a total beginner
..what should I start off with trying to grow and when ? Thank you

  5. Hello I have a question.what happens when u have long days of no sun? I'm in British Columbia Canada and winter time here in the valley usually had a lot of cloud cover. Will this style system still work? Also if I added some pop cans sprayed black filled with water to help keep the heat and add some moisture in the air, would that help? Very new to this and I live in a townhouse without any garden or lawn. Thank you

  6. would you look at that opposite side of the planet … im in new new zealand … i just bought the exact same mini green house. or as you called it a cold house…

    thanks for the video

its been raining so i ddnt go out to the garden … a brief break in the weather and went and checked on my seeding in the mini green house… wow and oops they were real dry.. open the door. sure was humid in there..

  7. Also if you can zip tiy them they last longer and stay up throw winter

  8. Am I right to assume that in Australia I should have it North or North West, instead of South or South West?

  9. I bought one from Thompson & Morgan about three years cost me £34.00 it was faulty they would not give me my money back. so I bought another from Wilko for £15.00 cheaper and better made more robust than T&M

  10. This Greenhouse will not last a full season in UK, you will have to taken it indoor in winter, and the plastic cover break's down in sun light, it goes brittle and cracks, the supporting bar's are plastic coated metal which rust's, So if you purchase this Green house and you want to make last more then a season "Do Not Place Out Door " and keep it in the box it came in,….

  11. I've had a few of these cheap greenhouses, they are genrally really good, but a couple of things to look out for:-

The Zip's can often detach from the plastic that they are sewn to, had to resolve to tape or small bulldog clips to keep them attached.

Because a lot of condensation builds up inside, it's advisable to leave the zip open a little to let fressh air in. Also, the condensation does cause rust on the metal tubing over time.

Try to not put too much weight on the upper shelves as it will cause the structure to sag to one side, keep the weight at the base if possible.

Use string or bungee chord to attach the greenhose to a solid wall of fence, high winds have a tendency to batter these light greenhouses, we've actually lost the sheet a few times when it's been left open, the wind had lifted it off the frame.

  12. Yay, I was wondering if they could be overwintered. We don't have the window space for starts and I asked for these for my birthday. I'll be starting from seed this year!

  13. Mine lasted two years, was totally worth it. I used it constantly; was in it several times per day. Now have moved on to a polycarbonate greenhouse. I have repurposed the mini frame structure to a protect structure to try to prevent SVB .

  14. Just got one of these today half price at Homebase and going to put lots of veg seeds in and see what grows! love this video.
