The Catskill Edible Garden Project (CEGP) works with schools and community organizations to design gardens as living, educational and gathering spaces. These projects offer access to healthy local food, “hands on” experience and an understanding of agriculture as an important aspect of our community. They also provide “time outside” for fresh air while engaging and connecting with the environment.

In thinking of gardens as outdoor learning spaces we can help the children experience sharing; engage in independent observation; learn about food and where it comes from; adopt healthy habits; reconnect with and explore their place in nature; build on a variety of school lessons; strengthen a sense of place AND we can beautify to create a sense of pride.

The Catskill Edible Garden Project is a partnership between Catskill Mountainkeeper, Cornell Cooperative Extension Sullivan County and Sullivan Renaissance.
