Just found your channel about 10 minutes ago! This is the second video I’ve watched… We are going to be new homeowners in August. We live in the PNW (Seattle area). I have ZERO experience in gardening, but we will have two raised beds at our new house, and I want to learn how to garden so bad!! I will research your past videos, but if not, could you do a video where you show us a step by step approach to a very first garden? That would be AWESOME!! Thanks for considering! And I will continue to learn from you!
Wealth of information, unfortunately I already drilled my holes using the first drill bit you showed. My husband took out the 2nd and 3rd drill bits for me to use, i though I knew better and used the 1st drill bit you showed . Im using a 22 inch resin barrel, i did put 8 holes in the bottom and 5 around the outside of the barrel. My pot are already filled with soil so I'll have to wait until next year to correct my mistake. Congrats on on your Masters degree.
Hello. Just found your channel. Great info. on container gardening. I live in an apartment with no terrace and I'm not allowed to have anything on my fire escape as it is an egress for emergency escape. I've been looking at different videos on container gardening and trying to figure out a way to do it safely without ruining the wood floors in my apartment.
I second that Ms. Carson. I was unaware I needed to place holes in my plastic tub. Question I have a 10 gal tub can I plant more than one herb or vegetable?
I love my Unibit…. no need to have all those drill sizes. I've also been putting a straw nest in the bottom to help prevent keep the dirt from making a mess of my deck. The straw is also great in the bottom of one gallon grow pots – it makes it easier to pull the plant out when transplanting into the garden or a larger pot. Great tips! Congrats on your Masters degree too!
How about putting the holes on the sides one inch up and not in the bottom? That way you have a little water reserve for the plant and less chance of drying out.

Great info on the drainage. I will definitely use larger drill bits for my medium to larger size containers. Thanks!

Good video. New subscriber.
Thank you. I just started gardening and am loving it. The time yes, is a big factor I find. It literally has to be scheduled to be consistent.
A layer of Rocks slow down the drainage and not good for special plants unless your growing bamboo..
Great video my man.
This is great information but the kid in the background yelling "Daddy! Hello!" Priceless. LOLOLOLOLOL
Thank you, great content
Attractive garden.

i put holes around edge about an inch from bottom to hold a bit of water in some of my containers.
I do not agree with the commercial… I am not selling anything
10:21 That weed cloth layer to keep the soil from blocking up the rocks is a smart idea!!
Thank you so much for this, it's EXACtLY what I was hoping to find !
Good info on drainage. You mention things I wasn't aware of! Thanks
