  1. I really need to get my backside in gear and start doing some prep work but the weather is really foul again. Tomorrow… that's it, tomorrow… my busiest day.

  2. You haven given me the courage to go outside the box when it comes to gardening. I have never heard of Parthenocarpic tomatoes. Funny, since I come across so many gardening articles. Learn something new every day they say. I hope I don't do what I do every year and plant so many seeds, that when it comes time to go outdoors, I just don't have enough fenced in area. And when you plants from seeds, they are like your little babies and don't want to destroy any of them. Love gardening videos in the winter because it gets you so excited for the Spring. Much success with your plants. Hope to see their progress.

  3. Ha! I am trying the North Georgia Candy Roaster myself this year 🙂 I plan on making some pie filler with it. I planted all my peppers 6 days ago- and I have 2 of 6 seeds planted of the Espelette peppers pushing through on this very day! These are the very first two of 36 seeds/6 types of peppers I planted. Very nice powder on roasted potatoes.  They are sure big in Espelette France 😉 Thanks again Dale. BTW —-I happen to have lots of Winter (perennial) onion, purple podded peas, broad beans and radicchio seed if anybody reading this is interested. By for now!

  4. Dale I also have a problem with the cabbage moth worm could you tell me where you purchased the BT natural organic pesticide.Thank you for sharing.

  5. they are known as Sweetheart cabbage here in uk! I love them… sweet and delicious!! 🙂

  6. Thank you Dale for sharing your garden plans. I'm always fascinated by the wide variety of plants you grow. I wish I could have a garden like yours though you've inspired me to grow some peppers in pots.. Best of luck and I look forward to seeing the progress as the season goes on. Cheers!

  7. wow you're gonna be a busy man planting all of that. i would like to start planting stuff but inside during the off season.

  8. That's quite the list, Dale. Some really interesting selections, there. Really looking forward to how things turn out for you! The squash looks particularly interesting to us. Always looking for something that stores well over the winter.

  9. Though I'm not a gardener, it's interesting to see the various Japanese veggies you grow, since I'm from your area (born in Calais) but have lived in Japan for 40+ years.

  10. I just read a pollination page on tomato pollination myths, and it says that it's a myth duh! LOL But it does give a really good explanation too. Very interesting. ( h t t p: //pollinator dot c o m /self _ pollinating _ tomato. htm ) You need to put the link together to get there. AND, the yard long beans are actually a legume. You pick them when long, thin, and young, and then you can leave them on to maturity and you then have the beans too. I think they come in different color beans, but I have only seen the red ones. I have heard that they are very tender but have never tried them. Think I will! They are tropical so they need the heat. They will grow all summer, not like our green beans that don't take really high heat. I am so curious about that squash, I can't wait to see that growing. It won't be long!!!! Love you new list for this year. Bless, Sheila

  11. This morning it is 3 above zero here in Michigan, lake effect snow blowing around, but a good sign of end of winter  when I can watch your video and your showing us the things that may be in your garden this year. The video is better than looking through a new seed catalogue that comes in the mail.  Watching the video of your seedlings in your grow room make the winter blahs disappear!

  12. Wow, what a wonderful, wide selection! I love how you are always trying something new. Thanks for showing your list, now I need to expand my options, I get stuck in a rut sometimes 🙂

  13. We're at 11 below zero this morning. Spring cannot get here fast enough for me…I cannot wait to get my hands and feet in the warm soil !!! Looks like you will be busy this Spring, and I think I may try that same cauliflower this year. I did not have luck with the big White ones, so maybe this one will work for me.

  14. Hi Dale! I grew the French drying pepper-Espelette last year. I liked it very much. It's slightly hot and I found that I liked it even better fresh. It's a very big plant -4 to 5 Ft tall and spreads pretty wide. If you ever pruned a pepper plant, this would be a good one for that. Hakurei–pronounced Ha core rye-accent on first syllable. Wonderful taste and easy to grow. Cover against bugs–doesn't need pollination. I had better luck growing in the fall. I didn't care for the flavor of the Lipstick pepper, but it grew well. Your Veronica is normally called Romanesco-from Itally. I'm also trying new things this year fromSeeds of Italy that I never heard of before –a green called Agrette and an herb called Sculpit. Two things that they grow in Italy but few other places .

  15. Hi Dale.I only found your channel today and I am very much enjoying your videos.i too am growing new things this yr. and trying to grow only heirlooms. The North ga. candy squash is also sold at rareseeds.com from Bakers Creek nursery.I live in north Ga. and have to order from a catalog lol.. I would like to try your parsnips if you have seed still available.i would gladly send a sase to you. Your list of what you are going to grow this year is quite impressive and I wish you great success.Thank you for sharing your videos.I will continue to watch them.

  16. Have you tried planting onions around your carrots? Apparently the onion smell confuses the carrot fly, and it can't smell the carrots. I had a full 2'x10' bed last year, only found one single carrot fly worm in one single carrot.
