  1. thanks for the clarification – my sweet potatoes have spade leaves.
AND BTW – I searched a lot of places for information.

  2. Potatoes are potatoes. It doesn't matter if they're white or red. They're both potatoes! Which ones I prefer? I like them all! I eat them year round.

  3. @OS253potatoes are potatoes? hardy. sweet potatoes are way better for you than the stardard potato. incomparable

  4. @leesie1984 : I respect your opinions. But all the potatoes are the same to me. Some are sweet and some are plain with no flavor like the standard kind. Do you have a veggie garden? I grow my own potatoes. They all look the same. That's how I come to conclusion that all potatoes are the same. Thanks for replying.

  5. Hi,
I would have been even more thankful to learn what makes you understand that is the time to harvest and if the frost is passed before you harvest them, if the potatoes will be lost or still good if you harvest just after the frost?!
When there is a flower, does that mean that one potato or a group of potatoes will be perhaps growing under the plant?
    thanks
(frenchie who planted some sweet potatoes 4 months ago, Australia)

  6. I planted a 100 foot row of Beauregard sweet potatoes 97 days ago today. I have dug under them in about 3 or 4 places just to see if I could find any, but each search has been fruitless. Am I not giving them enough time, or am I perhaps looking in the wrong place. What do 'you' suggest??

  7. @quietsong777 I guess I planted too many because they are overtaking my garden. Can I run the vines along the fence

  8. When you pull the sweet potato slips can you reuse them if yes how long can they stay without being planted and where do you keep them when not being used?
    thanks

  9. @68Abba Reply to a month old post . LOL. You could trim the vines just try not to cut the rooted vines.

  10. oh, that was not a good tutorial at all. he´s leaving out lots of crucial information!

  11. This guy really explains things thoroughly. He makes growing vegetables easy for that reason.

  12. what soil am i supposed to use. because i live in georgia and right now my soil they are in is red clay.

  13. Just planted a couple of, "slips" that I pulled off of a sweet potato that I initially found lost in the pantry with sprouts on it. I placed it in water, then to a small pot, now in I just planted the slips in 3 huge containers. I think I did it right. There is definitely enough heat here.

  14. I just planted a whole sweet potato in hydro soil outdoors and it's taking off like no other plants I have seen thanks for the info

  15. A couple of things – the young leaves and vine tips are tasty and nutritious. They cook up like spinach. If you don't have your own vines, the greens are prepackaged in most Asian marts. And the slips are super easy to grow. Just toothpick a sweet potato and suspend it half in a jar of water with the vine end up. When each slip has four or five good leaves, twist it off and put it into a jar of water to root. Plant when well rooted.

  16. Yeah agree with you there, best use a fork as it saves slicing through them when digging them. I used to grow these up canes with my Runner Beans and they will flower like Bind Weed or Morning Glory, I personally prefer seeds, as Disease cannot be passed on. Its hard starting off but once established, you can mulch with dry straw in winter and leave some in the ground! its these you will get seeds of following year. Good video!

  17. My dad use to grow sweet potatoes back home and he harvests them in just 45 days after planting the vines. He called that variety of sweet potato as "45days sweetpotato". Its a fast growing crops and bears big sweet potatoes.

  18. We have sweet potatoes and Idaho potatoes growing right now. We sure don't have to worry about water. We've had a lot of rain. And it's been hot, so they're probably growing well. Thanks for the ehow.
