We all want to be able to grow mushrooms, and it can be easier than expected! Small scale mushroom farms often have large amounts of used substrate blocks they need to get rid of, and some of these farms are willing to let people take these away, sometimes for a extremely small cost, sometimes for free!
You can break these block up for your garden, and if the climate is right, your garden will start growing fresh mushrooms you can pick. My garden has had hundreds grow where I can put the broken up blocks.
The substrate usually contains zero pesticides or other bad stuff, and it breaks down fast in the garden, alongside inoculating it will good mushroom mycelium.

I have shiitake growing on an oak tree on the street .It is necessary to soak the log in water for 4 days in water.Drill several holes in the logs and place the mycelium there.Then put the log in a bag and make a hole in the bag so that the mycelium breathes in a few months you can plant the log on the street in the ground.And a year later the first mushrooms appeared
One of these days I may have a huge pile out back too. Right now it's just a small pile. Turkey Tail blocks do not break up that easy though, tough little fungi.
