Many of us use containers for some or all of our gardening. In Arizona that can spell trouble for our plants if we don’t take some precautions to protect their vulnerable root zone from the heat. I share with you three tips that will help you garden successfully in high temperatures with a container garden. I am blown away by how quickly my garden filled in after being planted for about a month now. The sun shade is helping and so far everything looks great. In today’s final section of the video I chat with you about collecting seeds. Growing food is amazing and growing seeds is even better. In this episode we chat about cilantro, calendula, and bachelor buttons seeds.

  1. Your garden looks great! I may try those bags next year for some of Arthur’s peppers! I planted my tomatoes in the ground last year and they did great so I just did the same with the new ones this year. Just FYI, You’ve created a monster and I’m so grateful for you!

  2. I decided to go with mostly potting my garden this year, had 3 yrs of grubs…However, my herb garden is still going strong…knock on wood.

  3. Great video! I live in So Cal, and we definitely get into triple digits for a good stretch. That’s why we have the fires—it dries our everything that grew from the April rain!

I hadn’t thought about the type of container or collecting seeds. This was extremely helpful.

I subscribed to you after the video on how to clean the shower. I’m so glad I did! Great video!!!

  4. Hi looking good over there. How do you use the water meter thing? Can you show us how that works please. Would still love to have you come for coffee in the garden. I have an artichoke that is amazing. 30 or more on it. 1st time so I'm just watching what it does and waiting for the fruit to bloom. It's so awesome. Call me

  5. We appreciate your videos. We have raised beds and containers in Central Valley in California and there aren't very many 9b people out there to follow. 😍

  6. Never thought about the color of the bucket, thank u, are those plants growing in a cloth shopping bag?

  7. I live in southern NM, similar temps. I think it's so funny when other gardeners (not in our type of environment) say "you should water your veggies 3-4 times a week when it's hot" 😆🤣… Try twice a day Everyday for 100+ temps!!!

  8. What was the name of the fertilizer you mentioned… Tony’s Magic Fertilizer? Where do you get it?
Also, how did the grow bags do with no water underneath, like a kiddie pool?
I’m in Las Vegas and am desperate to try to keep my plants alive!

  9. I have always done well winter gardening in Phoenix but can rarely keep it going thru the summer when its 118 degrees or more. everything just dies on the vine! this summer (it is June as I write this) I am doing better by using containers and being able to move them around until I find a good spot for them just as you seem to have done here. the watering is a chore though. I am going to keep it small this summer for sure and just focus on a small garden.

  10. Is now too late to begin seedlings to try container gardening outside in Phoenix do you think? I'm a Floridian and trying my hand at gardening on base for my family 😬

  11. I want to grow my Syrian oregano in a plastic half barrel thing with an olla. I just figured out it wants some shade right now. I do have the container on gravel, and raised up on bricks

  12. Wonderful video! 💕 I am glad I found your channel today. I am subscribed now, and plan to binge watch all of your videos! Love this garden setup! 🌿
